    boxing (hatton vs malinaggi)

hatton returns to the same ring where just over a year ago he lost his unbeaten record to floyd mayweather when he was knocked out in the 10th round.

since then he has had one fight......a rather laboured pts win over non puncher juan lazcano who did floor hatton in the 10th but as never going to get a decision in hattons back yard. hatton has since split with his trainer and is now under the wing of mayweather snr.

mayweather started his trainers career in his sons corner until an arguement between the two seen them go their seperate ways, not only in business but in personal lives too.

im am not totally convinced mayweather is the right man for the job here.....i dont think changing trainers so late in you're career is the right move, more of knee jerk reaction to the defeat and a poor sloppy performance in his last fight.

now lets be honest here hatton was never ever going to beat mayweather and it was nothing to do with tactics etc.......he just isnt good enough

early sunday morning hatton is defending his light welterweight title against pauli malinaggi an italian american brought up on the tough streets on new york.

malinaggi brings to the fight just one defeat in 30 over fights and that was against the great miguel cotto who although knocking malinaggi down in rnd 3 and breaking his jaw still couldnt stop the fight going the distance

malinaggi is a very light puncher with less than 6 knockouts on his record but is quick and throws alot of punches and as seen in the cotto fight has the heart of a warrior.

hatton is taking no chances here and has been out in vegas for the last 5 weeks, fine tuning his preparations for the fight and he knows defeat will effectivly end his boxing career!

now i expect this to be a good close fight and the further it goes the better malinaggis chances are. if hatton can get to him within the first 4-5 rnds then hatton should prevail........but if malinaggi can weather the onslaught and take hatton into the middle/late rnds then he belt could be staying on the otherside of the pond.

very tough one to predict this

hatton to win in rnds 4-9 @ 4/1 looks good or hatton just to win by KO, TKO or disqualification @ 5/2 appeals

whatever happens should be a great fight and cant wait to watch

i have a couple of links where you can watch the fight for free, not sure you're rules on posting links but if you want them i can give you them

    take it easy

I don't know about all the way... the first round was malinaggi's... he got in a few decent shots in the first round but then after that it was definitely Hatton's all the way. Malinaggi looked pretty peed off about his corner stopping the fight... got the feeling from the interviews later that it was as much the promoter's decision as anything else.

I thought it looked like one of the Gallagher brothers was going to start on him before the fight even began. He was dancing around in front of one of them a bit and i think in a pub in Manchester it would have started a ruc! Glad Hatton won although hadnt bet on it.
Have a plan and stick to it

LOL yeah that was funny... just after Hatton had got into the ring with his fat suit on and his music was still playing malinaggi was dancing around with Hatton... they could have been down the local club or something they looked like good mates. Apparently there wasn't that much animosity between them before the fight, dunno if that's a good thing or not, the commentator was saying something along the lines of 'maybe malinaggi was a bit too respectful of hatton'.
