Betfair - Aus wallet
hi, this is my first post so i hope it is in the right place, i have been "laying" horse on GB horse racing at bf for some time now and wanted to move onto Aus horses. I have been warned against this, but no reasons given. Is there something different about laying horse on Aus horse racing at BF?
All opinions greafly reieved

Hopefully Dutchy will rock up with some more info on this as he's in Aus, until then from what I know it's fine to use the Aus wallet but just be aware that the verification process is slightly stricter for the Aus wallet than for the UK wallet and involves getting ID certified by a third party rather than just emailing it or uploading it to Betfair.
In the UK this isn't too bad to be honest, you can take your ID into the post office and they will certify it for you for free (or it was free about half a year ago anyway). In other countries it could be a lot more hassle though and involve a charge of some sort if you have to go to a lawyer etc to get it done.

Yep just need to get your ID sorted for an AUS wallet and your away
Once done you will find that AUS horse racings main days are Saturdays and Wednesdays and the volume of $$$ is nowhere near the volume in the UK...90% of the money gets traded about 3-4 mins before the race jumps
Betfair has only been in AUS for about 5 years and we are still getting used to it but it is growing all the time
If you have any questions let me know....Cheers

I remember reading something about being allowed to transfer money IN to your AUS wallet before verifying your details, but not being allowed to withdraw/transfer back to UK wallet. To do this you will have to phone them I think.

Just starting on Aussie books and thinking about horses and betfair. Anyone any recent experience of transfering/withdrawing to/from betfair AUS wallet?
I remember doing this about 2 years ago for some cricket action and didn't have any problems transfering back to UK wallet, no ID etc at all, has it changed?

I believe that if you are a Uk resident and can be verified as over 18 and on Voters Roll etc. then you will be fine. Always try it with a token transfer amount...!

I completed the full KYC check before using the Aussie wallet in early 2008 just to avoid any potential issue when moving funds to/from it and betting with it.
It says: "Please note: to remove restrictions around betting on Australian markets, each document must be signed individually by a professionally-qualified community figure (e.g. lawyer, teacher, doctor, civil servant, etc.), who must put their name, signature and rank/title, to certify that they have seen the original document."
That said, they were happy at that time to just accept normal copies via their secure uploading service (My account / My profile and then right at the top should be a link).
When I look at the top where the link is to the uploading service, I see "There are no current restrictions on access to your Australian licence wallet and your discount rate." What does yours say? If it says the same anyway, then I guess no point.

Can't see anything resembling that. Guess I'll try a small amount as Chris suggests.

I had an email from Betfair today about my Australian wallet activity. Easier to copy/paste it I think than explain it and have it lost in translation as it were:
As a condition of Betfair's licence in Australia, our customers are only permitted to operate one account for markets run under Betfair's Australian licence. In light of this restriction we have had to block the additional account(s) you have used to place bets on markets run under the Australian licence.
Please note that this block only applies to markets run under the Australian licence; not events run under Betfair's UK licence. The effect of this is that you will no longer be able to place bets using your Aus Wallet for username xxx.
So, that's fair enough really, I hadn't intended to use more than one account for Aus markets anyway, quite a long story as to why I ended up using two so won't bore you... anyway just for information really. Personally I just keep one Betfair account dedicated for Australian betting.

Warrior - if you're talking about BF wallets (and not other e-wallets such as moneybookers) then the currency will be the same as your main wallet
