Biggest ever loss?
A companion thread to the win thread!
Actually, what I'm specifically interested in is the worst losing week that people have had. Having read the mind-boggling TGT diary entries, I'm intrigued to know just what kind of losses these big-hitters have to be able to stomach?
This isn't Schadenfreude; it's just that I think we tend to talk a lot about the big wins (we have the winners thread, the screenshots thread, the diary thread) & it makes casino-bagging, or even just plain gambling sound easy.
But logic suggests, to me anyway, that it simply can't be possible to rack up £3k-£5K wins in a week without some weeks incurring losses of at least that much & probably more?
I'm keen to get some insight into this though, as it would have an effect on the extent to which I try to wean myself onto casinos...
(Losses through gambling or just plain user error could go here too although personally it's the casino stuff I'm intrigued by)
cheers

Biggest loss from one Casino session = £500
Biggest loss in one day = Just under £1000 (stopped playing then that was my limit)
Biggest loss over a week = I am not sure, probably £1000 because after that I was in such a bad mood I didnt want to tilt so stopped all gambling for the rest of the week.
Biggest loss over a month = Never had a losing month.
Have a plan and stick to it

£3000 on a casino, posted about it on here last year:
I would say I have made that back by now in extras that I wouldnt normally have touched. Also whenever I feel like chasing my losses I think of that, and have always stopped myself since!
My biggest ever bet loss was for about $5000 about 5 years ago (the year Liverpool beat West Ham in the cup final, it was the same day and I remember being sick while watching that game!). I used to follow a tipster on a place called thegamblersunderground called SkinnyDynamite. He was incredibly good, and I made a few quid following him. Anyway, this was his bet of the year or something. It was the Super 14's Rugby Union, and it was the Blues vs Hurricanes I think. He was putting down a ridiculous amount, tens of thousands I think. Anyway, i'd had a good few weeks of poker, so followed him in. I had $2000 on the spread and a price around evens, and also a $3000 saver on the moneyline to cover the spread loss.
The game kicked off earlyish on the Sat morning, and I remember going back to my mum and dads house, so ended up watching it with my dad. The Hurricans won, and my dad must have wondered what the hell I was doing getting so worked up over a game I dont really like and two teams i;ve never heard of I told him I had a hundred quid on it, and he was gutted for me that i'd lost that much!

My biggest sessional loss is £2500 on VP - that hurt!
Worst sequential loss was a run of 17 losing bets on black on roulette which cost me £440 and did freak me out somewhat. It was about a 1 in 100,000 event.
I once lost £15K straight over three months. £3K was my own money and £12K was bonus. I found it very testing at the time. Infact that whole year I only earnt 33% of my EV.
My worst losing month was -£3k last December.
This was all correct play BTW - no tilting or anything like that.
However I am still playing casinos so draw your own conclusions

Worst losing day was £3k from matched betting, added a 0 to 1 side of the bet .. It lost.
Tilting £4k December. [Black Jack] all started from being pissed at losing £30.
- further correction - about £2k was advantage play to recover my losses
Haven't had a losing month fortunately
but I always think "I could be £7k richer had it not been for...."

Biggest ever loss in one day - 10k my birthday last year , man utd v liverpool , backed man utd , liverpool won 4-1 . Thankfully i was out of the country at the time so didnt go trying to win it back.
Other big loss last month was 4k on one of my spin ups , but I cant even complain that spin up started at 200 . So really was a loss of 200 . I only play spins up now to 2k then i split into 10 x 200 spin ups . So that wont be happenning again .

Excellent thread. I'm a very cautious bonus hunter. As a result, I've never had a huge loss. Most was about £100 from not getting a horse arb matched.
I constantly hear of big wins and all this bonus money around that I'm just too scared to get at, but I just know that I couldn't take the losses. I hate losing much, much more than I like winning so for me. Of the few high risk offers I've done I decided I really couldn't have taken it if I'd lost.
So cheers for this thread. It'll help me see that I'm not just missing out by being a wimp, I'm also saving myself some grief!

More than £500 in a day on casinos. That was the £500 partybets bonus which has massive wr so was playing to very high targets and bust out every time. Was probably down four figures for that week from casinos and ended up -£754 from £3826 ev that month. This sort of thing is common though for an aggressive strategy.
In sports I have done much worse than that. In March I lost 6k punting, and was down just less than that for all advantage play, same month as the casino losses, and in the middle of the month must have been around 10k down which wiped out all my yearly profits to that date. It can be fairly daunting when going through a spell like that.

I've generally been lucky and I'm well above EV overall. But once I lost 36 deposits in a row at a casino. Luckily they were only $100 deposits. And I won most of it back from the nice VIP bonuses I got from it.
