    BlackJack: stand or hit on 16 vs dealer's 10?

    I noticed when I was observing CasiBot the other day that it was standing on a 16 vs a dealer's 10. I had a look in the CasiBot forum the other day and the owner said "This is the correct play, you should stand on 16 vs 10 with 3 or more cards.". Can anyone confirm this? I always looked to hit, then stand on 17(+) in accordance with the WOO strategy charts.

    How do you guys play it? I am asking as I am about to do some mobile and live casinos and I would like to play the strategy through as perfectly as possible.

    There's an appendix on the WOO site for exceptions when the player has made a hand form 3 cards or more;

    ♠Blackjack Basic Strategy Exceptions by The Wizard of Odds

    The difference you would make to the game by knowing this rule would be miniscule though.

    Surrender (if possible) when you have 16 v dealer's 10. If your total of 16 came from 2 cards, hit. If you got your 16 total from 3 or more cards, stand.

    Beating bonuses has all the blackjack strategy charts depending on where and what version you're playing.

    I've always used what Fred Renzey advised as the 'rule of 45' ie. if you see a 4 or 5 in your 16 then the correct play is to stand. 16 v 10 is such a close call either way so it doesnt make that much difference. I use it really as a valid excuse to stand on 16 and hope for a dealer bust which for some reason always seems preferable to hitting another card.

    I seem to remember you should stand on 16 vs dealer 10 if you have 4 or more cards. I think there might even be more specific criteria about what the 4 cards should be in order to stand and you could probably find strategy charts that detail it (probably on that wizard of odds page linked to above).

    Personally if I'm playing manually I tend to stand on 16 vs dealer 10 if I've had 4 cards. Sometimes if I've only had 3 cards and the dealer has had a long run of drawing 20 from 10 then I'll also stand on 16 (which is actually a nonsense really since the cards are shuffled for each hand so there shouldn't be any benefit to basing decisions on the current hand based on what the dealer had in previous hands... but hey ho!).

    I would hit. Or surrender if possible. But I couldnt stand on 16 vs 10 out of habit. There is nothing in it payout wise really it is miniscule as somebody else said above.
    Have a plan and stick to it

    I dont think I have ever stood on 16 vs a 10. The edge difference is miniscule, and its payback to the dealer when you draw to a flukey 21!

    I think it is worth taking the risk when you have got 16 from 3 cards. On the other hand if 16 comes from 2 cards "hit" is a better option.
