Blackjack is indeed troublesome, because there are not only 2 but many different odds (i.e. 1.5 on blackjack, but 0.5 on surrender). This is then indeed a multi-dimensional random walk which may have significant different properties from the one-dimensional case.
I guess a simple Monte-Carlo approach will solve many of your questions more reliably, with the benefit of being able to fine-tune your strategy more easily.

Yep, I think that's a fair comment as long as we realise that it is somewhat of an approximation.

good stuff - i have some much morencomplicated multiplying theories i might have to run by you. you seem like you might be able to answer them.
