You may remember we reported back in March 2012, David Haye and Dereck Chisora were involved in a scuffle after the bout between Chisora and Vitali Klitschko in February. It now turns out that both fighters WILL fight each other in a bout scheduled for 14th July 2012.
The fight was somewhat unexpected because neither fighter held a boxing licence - Chisora had his boxing licence revoked by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) (following the Haye scuffle and because of other incidents both before and after the Klitschko fight) and Haye had relinquished his licence anyway (when he 'officially' retired in October 2011).
However both fighters have now obtained boxing licences from the Luxembourg Boxing Federation (LBF) in a move that skirts around the issue of licencing and allows them to enter the ring for a 'straightener'.
Chisora's manager Frank Warren was quoted as saying:
I have legal obligations to Chisora and I won't have these compromised by the British Boxing Board of Control. They said he was able to apply for a licence in another jurisdiction at the hearing and that is what he has done.
