In 2006 the idea for the website TheGamblingTimes was conceived and early in 2007 it launched in a blaze of absolutely no publicity at all. Since then it has grown and evolved in many ways to become what it is today.
Over the whole period the forum attached to the site has always been a focus of activity and the "Heart" of the site. Its roots are actually in several forums which merged over time:
- An NCFC fanzine site Yarmy.co.uk
- A US Tipster site Thefellasforum.com
- A general US gambling portal TheGamblersUnderground.com, and,
- An original general UK gambling portal TheGamblingTimes.com
Unfortunately some of the earliest posts in the forum and many of the articles on the site have become lost in the depths of time. However since 2008 (which is the last time there was any merger/addition) the records are complete.
What follows is some of our favourite posts of significance or note.
The First Ever post (18/03/2008)
The first ever post we have on record on TGT is by "Doc":
First Ever Post on TGT
Doc owned the site TheGamblersUnderground (the post linked to above is a copy of the original which is in the Moderators section of the site). It was posted the night the TheGamblersUnderground and TheGamblingTimes first merged, and began a dialogue on how the new site should be set up.
The 100,000th post (07/03/2010)
By coincidence the 100,000th post is also in the Moderator's section so this is a copy of the original post:
100,000th Post on TGT
It is another fairly innocuous post, this time by "Andy". Some people were getting different user titles to display in their profile and we did not know why (it was fixed in the end!).
The 200,000th post (19/02/2014)
This one is more notable by "joeyboyuk" but unfortunately not in a good way:
200,000th Post on TGT
The UK bookmaker DSL has become insolvent, as everyone is beginning to realise the UK Gambling Commission are a farce, and other options of getting any £s back are being investigated. Gambling firms going bust is unfortunately an unavoidable hazard which will hit everyone sooner or later.
The most "Thanked" post (08/01/2012)
Kicking off the 2012 Relay diary thread is this post by "Andy" which received the most thanks ever at the time of writing (79 thanks):
Most Thanked Post on TGT (79 thanks)
For the uninitiated, the TGT Relay Diary is a diary that is completed each week by someone different, detailing the highs and lows of the TGT community.
The original thread (visible to Premium Members only) in it's entirety is here:

The TGT Relay Diary has been a huge hit over the years and continues to amaze with the quality of the entries. This year's relay diary can be found here:

The most "Viewed" post
This thread started by "Kranz" detailing the William Hill 'no loss' vegas/games/casino promotion has become the most viewed post on TGT:
Most Viewed Post on TGT
No doubt when Kranz wrote that post originally he had no idea how popular it would become, but as time went on William Hill continued to offer very regular / daily/weekly 'no loss' refunds on casino/vegas/games and the offers became somewhat of a staple to TGT members.
In fact the last post in the thread was only 3 days ago at the time of writing, so this thread is most likely also the most long lived thread on TGT as well, with continuous / consistent posts on it over the last 5 years.
Premium Members can view the original/ongoing thread here:

The most "Profitable" post (22/03/21012)
TGT's Scoop6 oddysey was something to behold:
Most Profitable Post on TGT
Whilst it is possible that other posts about specific bookmaker promotions may have led to more money being made cumulatively by everyone on TGT, we have no true record of how much that would be. However, by a country mile in terms of quantifiable profit, the TGT Scoop6 syndicate proposed by "PokerGod" led to a Gross win of nearly £80,000.
You can read the full / original thread here:

There is also an excellent article that was written for TGT by "SningSnangSoo", you can see that here:

Our "Favourite" post/thread (27/06/2009)
This post/thread sums up all that is good about TGT:
Our Favourite Thread: I've made a lot of money.....
"BlowingBubbles" makes the point that it is not just the money, it is being part of something unique. And who does not like a good cup of tea!
The post/thread which almost ended TGT in disaster (20/04/2009)
Betjoint... sends shivers down the spine of many a TGT'er...
The Post/thread that nearly ended TGT: "BetJoint vs TGU" = Account closures
The post itself is not the problem but what it comments on was. TGT had an exclusive (and very lucrative) promotional campaign with the bookmaker BetJoint. Out of the blue all accounts linked to TGT were locked overnight and for a while it was touch and go if anyone would get anything back. It was several hundred thousand $s.
As it turns out everyone got paid in full, but had things gone the other way, TGT would have been wound up that month.
The post/thread which everyone should read
This post/thread is by "Shiv27". Just read it:
The post/thread that everyone should read: My story....
After that, read this one too:
The Post/thread that you should definitely read: Gambling and losing?
After that... if you are sure that you have a bit of a head on your shoulders and have a grasp of basic maths, if you are 100% certain that you can control your emotions and gambling is something which you can enjoy doing safely and responsibly, if you have always enjoyed gambling but now want to enjoy winning too, go and read this thread and make your own post saying "Hello":
Hello, who are you and where are you from?
