Acceptable User Policy
Specifically the policy addition relating to discussion of multi-accounting reads:
(Contributions on the forum must not) discuss multi-accounting (the act of operating one or more accounts at a gaming site under the name of someone other than yourself, including, but not limited to, operating accounts under the name of a partner or 'other half' (so-called partner friendly ('pf') or other half ('oh') accounts) and the act of so-called 'gnoming' (operating accounts on behalf of third parties whether with or without their permission)). Users found breaking this rule may have their account / site access suspended and continued contravention may result in a permanent ban.
At TGT people can have as many Gambling accounts as they want, actually having a wide range of accounts at as many different sites as possible is encouraged, but it must be an account in YOUR name. You can bet for yourself, and yourself only, for the following reasons:
Inventing fake IDs and using account details of anyone that does not exist is clearly fraud. Believe it or not some people actually do this and have tried to justify it to us with "Who has ever been charged with it before?". Well to be honest we do not know if anyone has. However if you are caught and you were brought to Court charged with Fraud and the Prosecution asked you why you were editing Passports using photoshop we are not sure what the defence would be?
(EDIT April 2012, this has been taken to court and the offender sent to prison:
Gnoming Jail Sentence)
There is then the case of operating accounts on behalf of other real people but this is still not allowed. We do not know of any Gambling site which allows this. Admittedly we have not asked them all, but as far as we know, there is none. There are a few arguments that this also may be Fraud, such as if claiming a bonus whilst pretending to be someone you are not that is "Obtaining property via deception". There is the argument that although not Fraud it is still not allowed as one side of the contract has a "Pecuniary advantage" thus all bets would be void. We do not know of anyone being prosecuted for this either and would welcome any feedback of actual cases which may have gone to court? We are pretty confident it is not allowed though and we are certainly not brave enough to volunteer to be the test case.
Further to the above, regardless of placing the bets on the accounts, the depositing and withdrawing would definitely not be allowed by anyone but the account holder. If in doubt about being allowed to use someone else's card to make transactions you can stop into your local Bank Branch and ask them. The Moneybookers number to call is 0870 922 3274. Both will tell you in no uncertain terms that you are the only one allowed to use your account as per their T&Cs.
Some people are married and both those people may like to Gamble online. This in itself is absolutely fine, as long as the Gambling firms involved do not mind and each partner is inputting their own financial details when depositing. However it has unfortunately become common for people to mistakenly think that because both people are allowed to possess accounts, it is OK for just the one party to operate them. This is definitely not the case. It has been an unfortunate fact that people have over the years on the TGT forum taken what some people said referring to what their Husband may actually have done to meaning that THEY can do it for their own Spouse. Whilst in the real World we appreciate there is incredibly little difference who is sat at the PC pushing the buttons, it is still the case that it should not be done.
For a long time we have tried to be liberal about it because we appreciate the whole thing is an incredibly Grey area and also what people actually do is of little concern to us, we are not the Police and have better things to do than worry about how many Ladbrokes accounts Joe Bloggs operates. Unfortunately whilst not responsible for what people do we are responsible for what they say if they say it on our forum and chatbox.
Why somebody would feel the need to advertise the fact they are gambling with other people's accounts we genuinely have no idea but it is a sad fact that they do. Despite continued reminders that it is mind numbingly stupid to say that it is going on, people still do so. What is posted on the forum does become our duty to act on, which we would really rather not and for that reason and to avoid any doubt there is a Zero Tolerance approach to any mention of anything other than gambling with just accounts in your own name. That way there is no confusion at all which is best for everybody.
There may well be other websites and forums which do allow you to discuss gambling with other peoples accounts, made up IDs, "OH" accounts, anything you want, and we are sure they have their own legal advice telling them that is fine. We think they are wrong, but they are not our jurisdiction so we suggest if you would like to discuss using more than one account each you go to them.
If anyone does see somebody breaking the rules please report the post/chat/offender to any TGT moderator. The first time will lead to a one day ban, the second time a week long ban, a third time will be a permanent exclusion.
