Over the years there have been many, many different attempts to devise a system which will beat the wheel. There have been some successes such as the man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo, but this was due to an inaccuracy with the wheel, and therefore cannot be repeated. Generally all systems fail as the house has an edge, and contrary to belief the chances of getting a Red after 8 previous Red spins is exactly the same as if the last spin was Black. As a Vegas casino owner in the 60s said, "find me a man with a system and I‘ll find him a cab to get him here ".

One system is the Martingdale system which relies on doubling up after each losing bet. If it is Red, bet Black for twice your last stake. If Red again, double up again. Eventually it will be Black, and when it is you will win more than the amount you lost in that sequence. Then start again. This works in theory if you had an infinite Bankroll and the Casino had a No Limits table, but neither of these exist so the theory fails. It will quite possibly make a short term profit, but sooner or later a losing run will hit and wipe you out. A variation of this is the Reverse Martingdale system, which as the name suggests uses the same principle in reverse. You double up on each winning bet, until you lose at which point you start again. This will steadily decrease your balance until you hit a winning streak, so the secret here is to know when to stop.

There is also the "Chris Heaford bet like a Nutter" technique. This involves placing many bets around the numbers 29 and 32. You keep increasing the stakes until your numbers come in and you win big. The exact formula to follow is a closely guarded secret but it has returned spectacular results in practice. It has only failed to work at several online casinos where the numbers were "just too random"
