I know quite a few TGTers were hit by the fallout from the SportsAlive debacle - they went into liquidation owing punters a huge stack of money - so this little snippet of news might be of interest to a few people. Apparently a number of Australian punters have complained to the Ombudsman now and the latest reports from the liquidator indicate that $3.9m AUD is still owed to 18,000 punters.
The latest news is that apparently SA was insolvent up to 3 years before they finally went into liquidation, raising a lot of questions about the 'fitness for purpose' of the regulator over there.
The latest news also puts pressure on the Ombudsman to offer some other advice than for affected punters to call upon the liquidator for redress (which by and large is useless advice since punters are right at the bottom of the pecking order when it comes to being paid out that way)... so there is still the (very) remote possibility that legal action will go ahead against the regulator for their neglect in ensuring that SA followed the rules regarding ring fencing of player funds. But still... very remote you'd feel.
