I am making progress with matched betting thanks to all the advice on this forum – have done all my bets on football so far as I can see what’s happening and understand the results!
My question is - how easy is it to get into betting on horse racing?
I am looking for a straightforward Beginners Guide if anyone can recommend one (online or as a book) to get me started and then to make gradual progress, I have checked out TGT but cannot find the detail I need (as an absolute beginner).
Is a matched bet on the horses the same back/lay principle as on football – taking into account non-runners etc.
I have no knowledge of horse racing and am looking to gain some experience while the football shrinks away in the summer.
Is this a good idea or should I try tennis, golf etc?
All advice much appreciated.
Horses are great.. Better than tennis, which I avoid due to betting difference at bookies.

I'd suggest little stakes to start with, but horses are fun!
It is pretty much the same as betting on football if you're laying off your bets, just find a horse that has odds as high as possible at the bookie and as low as possible at the exchange.

Ideally put your bets on 30mins before hand until you're familiar with it.
Other than that you should be aware of Rule 4 which is a price modification scheme that bookies use to alter prices if a horse is withdrawn after you place your bet. It only affects you if your bet wins but still is something to be aware of. I wouldn't let it put you off though too much.

There's a very detailed guide to betting on horses and other markets on MSE (not a swear word round these parts is it?)
fcuking MSE. one of those is a swear word. you decide.
My first post on here got the reply:
"Welcome Al to the forum!,
A great first post!"
Then some excellent advice.
MSE' s typical response seems to be "you have posted this in the wrong place" or "I have answered this so many times before - why don't you use the search function".
Having said that I have checked it out - Thanks MrsDarcy!
Hello, my first post here. At first I want to apologize for any language/grammer mistakes I do in the years to come in advance.
My name is Raphael. I am 19 years old and live near Hamburg at the moment.
I read about AP/Arbing, when I began to bet online last year, but really started with it in the last 3 months. Before that I was just a "regular" bettor. As I was under 18, my father had to submit the betting slips. Luckily we had an Bet3000 offline shop minutes away.
I never forget my first bet. Together with a friend we put 10€ on Bayer Leverkusen to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League group stages at odds of 5,5. Bayer Leverkusen won 3:0 and since then gambling became one of my passions. It was in 2004 (at age 12 ), 2 years after the champions league final, with this unbelievable goal of Zinedine Zidane I will never forget.

I hope I will learn more here, especially concerning Casino playing, which I really have no experience of at the moment and that I can give something back. As the diaries of other people here have taught me much, maybe I will start a thread and post my progress, too. But as I am not living in the UK, I am asking myself if that interests anybody.
Hi Raphael welcome to the forum, good to have you onboard.
Hi guys, I am Ed from Norwich. I started APing around a year and a half ago with bookies, moved onto casino AP a bit afterwards. Got this site recommended to me by a friend. Hit a bit of a wall, and primarily going off reloads at the moment (signed up to the major UK bookies, but not many others currently) - so hoping to give and receive a few tips!
