If you search about the old threads you will find some Gems that are still valid I am sure.
What is your Avatar? I like a good Avatar but really cant figure out what yours is at all. Is it an Otter playing Basketball vs a Midget? Thats my genuine best guess.
Cheers for the heads up Andy, as I'm more of a matched better these days, I'm sure I'll be checking out the bookie bonuses forum. Never tried poker, more of a blackjack man. Will definitely check out the casino section though, for old times sake.
The avatar? I love basketball & have been using it on another forum, so have just carried it across. It's two midgets (of a Chinese origin) going one-on-one. Makes me smile, though, now you've said it, one does look a bit otter-ish.
Cheers to Munk for the warm welcome too.

Hello. My real name's David but online I'm sometimes Humpty -- a homage to the seminal works of Digital Underground
A few friends recommended matched betting. I'm just getting started, but I've set up a separate bank account and got the bf and bdaq freebets already. I already have a bwin account since they took over pokerroom, so that's one offer I can't do.
I just want to make a few quid to put in my new boys trust fund.

Welcome to the forums Dazed1979 and Humpty / David
Lots of good offers out there at the moment Humphry. Plenty of easy £25 / £30 offers or go for the big boys like Bet365 (£200), PaddyPower (£100), William Hill (£100).
Any probs, just ask

Yes, welcome to the forum David, have a good browse through the various threads here, plenty to get stuck into:

Thanks, those big boys look pretty tempting. Might get started with Bet365. I'll have a good look through the forum. There seems to be plenty of useful information.

Well I've been on here for just over a month now, so thought I'd better introduce myself, so you can see just how boring I really am.
My real name is Bill. I know, you're really shocked. Obviously I lack an imagination.
I am a Senior Technician in Microbiology/Molecular Biology at Teesside University. I am also employed as a Part-Time Lecturer. The area I work in used to be called Biotechnology and the group of us here used to be referred to as "the bioboys" by the lads in the tearoom, so that's where the username came from.
I am also a School Governor and I have been running a Ju-Jitsu Club which is part of the World Ju-Jitsu Federation for about 12 years.
I am a West Ham fan who was born and bred in East London, but I moved to my current job in 1985, as my wife was born here and hated London. I still get to see a few home games here and there and I also get to a few away games each season. Despite my son being born here I made sure he was also a Hammer and now he is even more entrenched into supporting them than me. I have told him he's in for a lifetime of disappointment, but he won't listen.
I am also into Carp and Barbel fishing and it was actually while searching for information on a Carp DVD that I accidentally stumbled across matched betting towards the end of October 2007. For some strange reason Google took me to a site called fundmydegree.com, where students discussed how they paid their way through uni.
This led me to MSE GIOL. My first impression was "this looks too complicated" and "if it was legit everybody would be doing it". Thankfully I stuck with it and thought if I could make £500 for Christmas I'd be happy. I now have a profit of £18.5K.
I am also active on MSE and i have also been very active on Rpoints, particularly the ongoing arb thread, where i am rated "Immortal".
Rpoints seems to be dying a death at the moment, but it might make a comeback once the major football leagues kick off. The one thing I hate over there is the little cliques they have and the way they berate some new people who ask questions. Some of them are so full of themselves yet contribute so little. They have a go for somebody chatting on the arb thread but think nothing of doing it themselves. Some of their crap has verged on bullying. It really annoys me at times and I have told them.
Anyway, it seems much friendlier on here and i hope to spend a lot more time here......so long as the wife lets me.

Hi, another newcomer who's been active on MSE since December. I've made about 4.5K through mostly matched betting so far, with tons of books still to do, although I've had a bit of a lull the past few months and really need to get my finger out and get stuck in again!
It's funny for me that bioboybill has just posted above, as he was my first (actually my only to date) referrer (for Betfair) on MSE when I started out, and welcomed me with useful advice and tips. I'm not following you about Bill, honest! Having looked around a little I think these forums do seem to be a friendly and constructive place; I think the active moderation I can see happening helps! I like to try and give back a bit of what I get out of forums like these by helping others when I can.

Hi Derek,
Nice to see you over here. Thanks for bigging me up mate. You never forget your first.
I totally agree with what you say about helping others. Some people like to keep this a secret and I can kind of see their point, but I like to pass on the knowledge where I can. Maybe it has something to do with the sort of job I've always done.
Yes, you have been a bit quiet lately - no quarterly referral bonus from Betfair this quarter. You're still doing well making £4.5K though. I told you there was plenty to be made didn't I?
Yes, I think you're right that the active forum moderation really helps here. I will make a point of telling anybody I refer to bookies or Betfair to have a look over here from now on.

Yeah, sorry 'bout the Betfair thing - I found out that I was partway through the PC allowance, due to a 3 month 'losing streak' at the bookies and had to mostly switch to BetMate, so that I could be sure to keep BF available for necessities. I have to keep away from them 'till the end of the year, when the rolling 53 week period will take care of the old wins. That or do what BF CS were so keen for me to do - trade my position out at the expense of the other exchanges. Might ask you sometime for a couple of other referrals I had my eye on, though?
I can see the point about overpromotion, but I think there's only certain personalities that will do this; my wife and I are both bioscientists with similar backgrounds, but she's looked at this and has no interest in spending time on it whatsover, despite seeing the rewards
See you around
