This thread will be of use/interest as it was started about two months ao under very similar circumstances to you. He was 100% "new" and had a small (ish) float but intended to reinvest it and let it row over time. He also was introduced to it by an experianced friend and had them as a mentor but still went off on his own as soon as he could.
He is about £2k up at the moment I think which isnt bad. Not all those offers will still be available it is a very fluid environment but you could use it for ideas and to have at least a feel of what other people have done and why. There are a lot of answers in there to thins you may want to ask as well.
If you have any specific ask about any offer ask in the forum thread about that offer and someone will soon help/offer advice. For basics on how and why to back and lay bets try readin here:
The Gambling Times | Viewing Article "Matched Betting Explanation"
Exactly how much to lay is up to you, you pick your profits. Also some people use funky spreadsheet type calculators to work out how much they win and lose, I would advise doin it in your head you will learn faster and avoid costly mistakes because if you have worked yourself into a position you understood how and why and can then work your way out of it.

Have a plan and stick to it
Im from Australia
Its a brave new world out there
The Betfair revolution has well and truly made life on the punt as profitable as its ever been.
There is a myriad of Internet Corporate Bookies worldwide now
UK residents have so may firms to choose within thier own country
In Australia we only have a handful of Corporate Bookies
What I have found with the Australian bookies is they are very good in customer services and product services
I have recently traded with overseas Bookies and have found this site only recently, and found TGT a handy reference
TheInternational bookies Ive opened accounts with have been good.
Ive been fascinated with the forums
Im impressed with the Bookie ratings on TGT
Basically I am a Bird when it comes to computer literacy
But somehow Ive managed to bluff my way through and make a quid doing what you guys have somehow perfected
I have learnt a fair bit reading TGT
A great site
Hopefully I can share some stratergies in the forums and help out
I have a long association versus Bookies
As a youngster they fleeced me in my recreational punting days
Its now nice to recoup some of those early day losses
Hi bird welcome to the forum, good to have you onboard. If you need any help with anything just shout.

I'm here predominantly to step up to the next level - dutching. MSE have some threads on it. I've printed some stuff off from there and, wow, it's going to take a while to wrap my head around it. But looking forward to wading through this forum here to help me further understand it.
Nice to hear from newbies and what a great first post!
If you need any help along the way, just shout!
Greetings to all the new folk out there that have joined the site in recent months. My name is Makybe, and I have been a lazy git and had a son in the last 6 months (well actually, my wife had him ) ... but I declare that I am back and ready to fire on all cylinders again.
I'm an Aussie and I basically hate bookies ... so am here to take their cash.
This time of the year is always slow, not much to do and I have been itching to get back into things for a fair while now. My bankroll is pretty much as I left it, maybe a little less and I intend to put it to good use. The pro's around these parts will probly throw things at me, but I think I burnt myself out somewhat so perhaps this time I'll take things a little slower and see how we go.
I don't profess to be a genius at this caper, but I've set myself some new goals, and will plug away. I'll be around a fair bit, so just thought I would say "Hi" ... again!
ps any advice welcome by PM, £1500 ish bankroll ... but i'll start wading through pages of threads and tons of emails, and see what we can find
Cheers, Makybe !
Everything ends badly, otherwise it wouldn't end.
This is the William Hill story
In 1981 I went on a world holiday
I lobbed in the UK in 1981
One day I was punting in the William Hill betting shop
I backed a winner to get to sqaure
I was a bit naive and didnt realise they taxed an amount on my winnings
So I was still a litte but behind
In trying to win that last pound it cost me 10 pounds, which in 1981 was sizable enough for a kid travelling the world
Uncle Bill has that offer 25 uk for 25uk bet
I did my bit in Oz dollars
I fumbled and goofed my way thru to make a lousy 20 oz dollars
But that was enough to recoup my losses from 28 years ago !
Uncle Bill was my first overseas Internet account and my first ca chingggg !
Hi my names Owen and i live in Portsmouth, i've been matched betting for just over a year now and done most of the european books. Now thinking of trying out the casino offers over the next few months.
I've learnt alot just the few days i've been on here already
