    Bet365 credit report check

Just got a copy of my credit report and was shocked to see that Bet365 had done a check on it. It was written down as a money laundering check rather than a credit check but still a bit peaved to find it on there as no other bookies have done such a check and now any future banks doing a credit check on me will be able to see that a bookies has done a check on me.

You havnt done anything wrong though, so i wouldnt worry about it. Anyone can check you for anthing they want as i understand it, it doesnt mean a lot. I might be wrong i have not looked into it. Does it really say they were checking for Money Laundering? That is bizarre, one of the things with Money Laundering is nobody can tell you that they are checking you for it or they go to prison for "tipping off".
Have a plan and stick to it

It may be an ID check rather than a check on creditworthiness. If so, as I understand it, it would not show up to lenders etc performing a credit check. Don't have chapter and verse on this at the moment though. The money laundering regulations require certain institutions handling funds to know who they are dealing with so I can see how "money laundering check" could be used as shorthand for confirming ID.

Hi katy, i agree with Andy and chriso. I don't think banks can look negatively on the fact you have had a fraud prevention check.

I seem to remember seeing this as well on my credit report - wasn't too bothered it's only a money laundering / ID check and not a credit check (which is the one that counts for your credit score / credit worthiness / affects how easily you can borrow money).

My credit report has 7 checks from bookies on it.

Apparently lenders etc are not able to see such searches? Does anyone know this is the case for definite? Does anyone have anything confirming this?

They are not credit checks so do not affect your credit history at all.
They are identity checks or money laundering ones - same checks as performed by IPS when you apply for passport.
Nothing to worry about, really (unless you are gnoming...)

I know they don't affect your credit rating...but can lenders see these checks? I read an article on MSE saying that they can't...

PS..I'm not "gnoming" - but why would "gnomers" have to worry about this?

nobody can't see any individual checks on your credit file, lenders are only informed about the number of credit searches performed on your file and as identity checks are not credit searches then short answer to your question is: no, they cannot

because when you register your parrot with Bet365 they will perform identity check which will produce negative result (i.e. automatic verification impossible) and they will ask your parrot to send them over photo ID and proof of address
