Need Advice. Mobile Broadband? Any good?? Pay as you go Dongle

Hi all i have been looking at getting O2 Mobile Broadband.

    Saw this deal on Hotukdeals.
02 broadband PAYG Dongle 29.35... But 43.95 back through Quidco. - HotUKDeals Forum

Just wondering if its any good? would just use it if my broadband went down or wanted to do a bit of cheeky MBing at work!

    Thanks

I've got it, and it's pretty hassle free TBH. You plug it in and it does all the setting up for you and away you go. The speed isn't home broadband levels, but then again it doesn't need to be for MBing on the go.

The major problem I have with it though is the pay as you go structure. You can effectively buy usage with your credit card. However, it's not like your mobile's PAYG, since the usage will either expire within a day, week or month, depending on how much you purchased.

e.g. Lets say you buy the maximum £15 top up, which gives you a 3GB usage allowance. If you use up only 100mb within 30 days, the remaining ~2900mb is lost at the end of the 30th day. Obviously if you use up the whole 3GB within 2 weeks, then you need to top up again to use it on the 16th day.

Can i Just say that I have 3 mobile broadband and it is a load of rubbish! signal is incredibly variable and speeds are not reliable at all. customer service is virtually none existent too.

Im paying out £7.50 a month for something i dont even use because its that rubbish! I may be bitter, but I would not recommend three to my worst enemy, sooo frustrating! So please dont go for them if you are thinking of mobile broadband. They are cheap for a reason!

I have three mobile broadband also but seems I am lucky with it. We have the £15 a month or something and although its sometimes a bit slow, I have never had any major issues but I think with mobile broadband it depends on your location, there was somewhere you could check what kind of signal you will have before you buy.....ill see if I can find it

    Hi

I have 3 mobile dongle £15 a month (24 month contract) 15GB download. The connection not very fast, but does the job.

I get a new ip address each time I reconnect, ideal for those with multiple accounts. Unlike my cable connection.

Also cashback kings £100 for the 24 month cotract

    Hope this helps
