In need of some motivation!
as above, I have the attendancy to be lazy.
I have done MB'ing before, and that was to get rid of my O/D, and have recently tried starting again, however I have a somewhat lack of motivation.
I know ~ how much I could potentially return each week, and would like to save up for a deposit, but I need some means to record/push myself doing offers and taking time searching for good arbs.
What do you all use for motivation/to record progress and stuff, and any suggestions would be more than helpfull, i'm looking into changing the way I currently work, and possibly have a progress status to benchmark how well i'm doing, anyone think this is a good idea, and what should I benchmark against?
You say you want to do it again to save for a deposit, so why not work out how much this is and by when you would like to have it and work out how much per week this means you would need to make.
I don't do this to save for anything in particular but I found it helps push me if I think I want to make £x per week as it gives me something to aim towards rather than spending too much time reading about offers rather than doing them, the ultimatcher is a good spreadsheet to keep track of what profits u have made at each bookies, where your money is at any time etc.....
Its very friendly over here so Im sure you will get some good encouragement and advice
I agree with srh, work out how much of a deposit you need and when by. Once you have that work out how much you need a month and by week
This can then be your target. Might be worth posting how much you need to make, by when we can then offer some offers for you to do to make this target.
As Dingling says do it because it is fun, and making the £s is going to make it more fun, but dont do it just for the money you would be better off working some overtime.
Also my advice is DO NOT set targets, just let the £s come to you. If the profit is available then take it, if it isnt then dont chase or push for it, if its not there its not there. Also it would be silly to stop if you hit your "target" early. Just take what is on the table when it is on the table.
There are a few diaries here which are quite inspirational:
And everyone in this thread posts a bit of a summary which is incredibly handy as a reference to anything you might have missed and can look into:
Have a plan and stick to it
Cheers for the thoughts,
Yeah I reckon i'll look at say a target figure, and then work out what I need to do to get there, and chip away at that...
Not 100% sure if I should set a fixed target each month, or have an incrementing target as my float gets bigger.
Only thing i disagree about your post Andy, having targets is a good idea for some people as it keeps them motivated. I agree you shouldn't ever chase to hit the target, but otherwise it is a good motivational tool for some people.
Also my advice is DO NOT set targets, just let the £s come to you.
I agree it would be silly to say have a target of £1000 and then stop halfway through the month.
Also it would be silly to stop if you hit your "target" early
I often set myself targets say like £1000 in a month, if it hit it then i set myself another target to reach by the end of the month, and keep going like that.
Hmm, not sure I could make a target of 1k a month as of yet, I've made 1500 previously in just under 4 months, and have decided to put aside a float of 1k to work from.
I've still got a fair few UK bookies to work through, so I would be happy with say £3-400 a month - is that achievable in your book?

If you post the list of bookies you've done. I'm sure I'll be able to jot out some sort of plan of attack. My bro has made his first £150 in his first 2 weeks of matched betting. (Had a float of £150, I offered to lend him a grand to give him a flying start and speed up the process lol but he didn't feel comfortable with those sums of money).
So I'm jotting him out a road map, assuming you haven't done all the easy game some of it will be applicable to you.
[Edit]: Also "Is this achievable" shouldn't be the question. You've already matched bet, you may have seen for example Slim Shady's figures, you know whats achievable and what isn't. "Is this achievable for me", is only something only you will have insight into.
