    Summer as a Professional

The student year is over and more important matters than exams and studies are starting to press on my mind. The free money that the goverment like to call a student loan has run out and IBM has turned me down for a job!

Last Summer I spent my time as a caretaker but due to excessive lazyness and too many pizzas I am going to try and earn my a living this Summer being a 'professional gambler'. Last year I earnt £250 a week so my aim is to match (and hopefully beat) that income. My Summer runs from 27 June - 4 October. So I have 14 weeks and need to make £3,500, a daunting thought :s

So basically, after all that, this is just another diary...

    Week 28 June - 4 July

This first week I planned to take slightly relaxed. Get re-aquainted with friends and the tv...

Sunday: I did Boyle Sunday blackjack reload (£10 for a £10 bonus, 150 wr) and made £8.50. I also introduce 2 friends to matched betting with the hope of earning a bit from referals. Also made £9.10 doing the "Wimbeldon Tipping Contest".

Monday: Disaster my laptop went kaput so now I have nothing but a old school computer with which to complete my challenge. No more searching for odds in front of the tv! Worse it was also the day that the trading challenge starts and I didn't really trust the old computer so decided to hold off trading until i was more confident.

Tuesday: Started bwin instant casino introductory offer (400 euro for 200 euro bonus, 8000 wr).

Friday: Most has the week has gone by, spent it watching the tennis and playing 1 euro hands of blackjack (in retrospect a bad idea). Finally i got through the wagering requirement and withdrew £249.54 profit from bwin. Also had a go on the old computer trading a couple of horse races, 1 tick scalping pre race with £2 stakes. Made 42p profit. I also got very annoyed when Murray lost because I had a £70 free bet on him from the "Wimbeldon Tipping Contest".

Saturday: Did a bit more trading, once again 1 tick scalping pre race with £2 stake, made £1.46 profit and will attach the p&l for saturday.

End of the week profit: + £269.02

So a good first week, slightly over target. Unfortunately next week i'm in Spain so won't be able to do much...

Definitely do-able, I was making about 1.5, 2k a month over about 3 months before I went travelling putting a reasonable amount of effort in to it. Though that was a lot through US books and obviously using quite large
    stakes which helps.

Goodluck Grandthrax, this will be interesting to watch im sure. Do you have any specific plans, IE to focus on one strategy/type of gambling and milk that as much as possible or have a more "Jack of all trades, master of none" approach" and hit everything you see?
Have a plan and stick to it

The plan is that this will be push me to experiment with things I haven't before. I will do some of the larger wr casinos, I will probably have a go at looking for arbs and dutches (not as part of a free bet but just to lock in a profit). I haven't yet done any of the "if bet" and slightly more obscure offer so I will probably give them a go to. So really I will be having more of a 'apprentice of all trades' approach and will hopefully learn a lot.

On top of trying new and slightly obscure tactics there are still quite a few bookies I haven't yet done the introductory offer for so will do them. Oh and if I get good at trading and start making 1000s a day then that would also be nice

I'll echo the good luck comments. I'm always interested in things like this and admire you for having a crack at it.

I really need to concentrate on some casinos myself this summer.

Best of luck with this Grandthrax, will certainly be interesting to see how much can be made when one has the time to devote to it!

    Week 2: 5 July - 12 July

As expected week 2 didn't hit target. I have been in Spain all week so haven't been able hit my target.
To make matters worse the little bit i did do before I left ended badly: First off I busted out of the 32red reload loosing £32. I then tried trading on US horse races not realising that they don't all go in-play... I have uploaded my trading profit and lost for the Sunday.

    Week 2 P/L: -£33.05

Culmative P/L: £239.59 out of the target £500

Week 3 I shall step up the pace, wish me luck...

    Thanks for all the support
