Christmas Present Ideas
Thought it might be fun to have a thread dedicated to good Christmas present ideas. Here are some of mine (my gifts to others....mostly):
Vinturi Wine Aerator, Red Wine
Get's good reviews (always a must for me). Unusual, most people won't have one.

LED Lenser Police Tech Focus Torch Black
Sh*t-hot, small, ultra-powerful torch. Who wouldn't want it?

Logitech Harmony 555 Universal Remote Control
Not an obvious gift but people I trust have these & rave about them. Good for someone hard to buy for....?

Natural History Museum Pocket Microscope
A pocket microscope that works brilliantly, for <£7. Hard to see how you can go wrong. Much better kid's present than most things IMO...

Huge, warm, blanket thing you curl up in. Great gift for the right person/people:
The Slanket - buy at Firebox.com
Asus Eee PC 1000HE
Simply the best netbook out there IMO. HUGE battery life. Great little netbook. This link is a review, you can find ppl selling these easily enough:
Asus Eee PC 1000HE Specs, Laptop Reviews on CNET UK
Know any builders? Or anyone else who works somewhere similar? They need this phone & because it's JCB they'll love it & love you for getting it:
Play.com (UK) - Mobile - Free Delivery
Jawbone Prime bluetooth headset
I'm taken with these: Brand new technology basically makes this a bluetooth headset that will work in noisy environments, cutting out extraneous sound. Effing GREAT idea in my opinion, This link is a review on youtube, once again you can easily find people selling these:

I think I've seen the Slanket woman at my Church of Jedi meetings.
Philips QC5170 Mains Rechargeable Hairclipper

60 Cif Oxy Wipes | Poundland

Good reviews and as near silent computing as you can get, for musician types
PaQ - Powerful & Quiet PC Cases
Perfect accompaniment when buying a knife for someone
iPod Accessories-iPhone Accessories-iPhone Cover-iPod Cover-iPod Hoodie
Good post although Cif, Snickers & Oil of f*cking Olay can all go & kiss my ar*e.
I would like to get my hands on one of these for thorough testing, compared to say an Antec Solo that's had a bit of effort put into it to make it quiet. Also compare to the Antec P180series.

They speak highly of the paq case on soundonsound which is where I first heard of it. I think it's a bit of a one man outfit but he also builds custom PCs and I've read good reviews on those too. Where I recorded my stuff was all protools and macs but I'm just looking to create a little home studio now where I can make decent recordings, nothing super high tech though for me.
Spent the last two days doing almost nothing but ordering (mainly from Amazon) & Christmas present shopping is nearly done
Wish I could say the same!

For those who hate traditional shopping but also can't easily take deliveries, I've found the Currys collect from store option to be surprisingly good.
Basically you go to the Curry's website & select the item you want, then you specify that you want to collect it from a store at which point you enter your Town or Postcode & it'll show you if your local store has the item. All you do then is enter minimal details (name, email & phone number but you don't need to enter address or any payment details etc) & it generates a reservation code. The goods are then ready for you to collect within one hour of reservation.
I've done this twice in the last two days & it's worked fine both times. As a bonus you are sometimes eligible for Online offers by purchasing this way (f'rinstance if you just go to Currys then an Ipod Touch 32gb is £229, however if you reserve & collect the same item from the same store you get a £25 iTunes voucher thrown in). Depending on the item Currys can be very competetive although obviously not always.
Anyway, quite impressed with it (& definitely NOT a fan of Dixons/Currys/PC World ordinarily....)
Just a thought for us match bettors to give a little back to some of the guys who put the show on the road for us to bet.
The Injured Jockeys Fund does what it says on the tin.
So if you have no Xmas cards to send yet go on line to [url=http://www.ijf.org.uk]and spend away !
As you can probably tell, I am not connected to these guys , but I do buy the Xmas cards every year.
They also have calenders, diaries, mouse mats and an AP MCOY CAP
O.k Just ordered 2 Boxes Xmas cards, 1 wall calender 1 fridge magnet notepad, AP cap and a wallet the wife can give me as an Xmas present. Well I have already got her the wellies for the garden and if she is really good, I`ll get the shovel as well!
