Gambling in the United States
Hey, I have to prepare a paper with the topic of gambling in the US.
Anyone can recommend some good books about this topic, I┤ve already taken a look on amazon, but maybe someone has read something about this topic.
What I┤m interested in is for e.g. economic effect on gambling, legal issues, effects on tourism (Las Vegas etc)...
If anyone has a good link to a magazine article or sth similar which I won┤t or wouldn┤t find through google, I┤d appreciate it.
Im not sure if he would have much MacroEconomic data for you but if you needed a source for any Primary/Empircal evidence then PM KidPoker I am sure he will help if he can.
At the least he would point you in the right direction.
Have a plan and stick to it
wow,I could probably dig up a ton of good info about all kinds of views, but it wo9uld mostly be just people's opinions or legal documents and peoples reactions. dont know if that would be good for a paper.

Thanks Andy and kidpoker.
Well it would have to be usable as a source so people┤s opinions aren┤t maybe that useful and it also doesn┤t have to go that deep into the topic or be to challenging, some book or similar that covers the mentioned things would be totally enough. Read anything interesting that maybe?

Thank Junkman, looking forward to Monday.
I've gone through this site albeit breifly and was confused. I'm from the UK but am considering moving to the States. From previous reading I was under the impression that the whole farce over the pond about gambling was related to the Wire Act, which was designed to combat Godfather style line runners and not above board bookies per se, meaning that the individual punter at home could call in a bet but the BOOKIE couldn't reside on US soil, hold or route funds through US banks etc etc.

I'm sorry it's slightly off topic for this thread but it's in the right area - just how exactly DOES it work over in the States please? We have a fair few Yankie players on the boards now - where do I stand if I pack up tomorrow (no talk about visas please! lol) and land on US soil if I want to continue making money playing sportsbooks and casinos please?
