BT iPlate - possible faster broadband for a fiver

My primary BB feed is NTL however I also have BT BB as a backup.

Due to limitations at the Exchange the speed I get is useless & has never been above 1.2MB in the two years I've had it installed. During that time I regularly test the linespeed using this site:

Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
    (simply click on Start Test)

I heard a few good things about the BT iPlate so I finally got around to ordering & fitting one of these this week (installation took 30 seconds).

Result: Instant doubling of speed up to 2.4MB!

Anyone with a naff BT BB connection may want to consider trying one of these.

    I bought mine here:
    Review BT I-Plate (iPlate) (iPlate)

    (check out the other reviews)

Simple guide to fitting them here:

Be careful before buying, you have to have a certain kind of socket for your phone. I looked into this a few weeks ago and mine was incompatible

Yes, that's why I included the links above, they tell you what's compatible (just watching the video is good enough, it's explained on there). I simply unscrewed the faceplate from my master socket & took a look before I ordered.

Rather surprisingly, as of yesterday my speed has actually increased again & I'm now on 2.9mb! (it did say wait a couple of days for full effect but I wasn't expecting a further increase).

Bit of a scandal that BT don't provide these as a standard part of the installation IMO.

I found that pulling out the orange wire worked a treat 5.89 up from 4.22. Google "bell wire removal" or Bellwire fix
