I wonder if the noise is putting the players off...?
Players tend to respond to noise from the crowd.
Strikers not really striking ...and goalies making school boy errors...perhaps the noise is being substituted for boos because the teams are nil nil

They are so incredibly annoying. Just at the point where I'm sticking it on mute. Bearing in mind the quality of the commentating that's not such a hardship (Mick McCarthy I'm looking at you in particular).

Foir me the ball is ruining the world cup,,, the amount of players who are overhitting the ball and miscontrolling is mad. The thing is bouncing around everywhere. Why can't FIFA use a bog standard ball?

went to the pub last night to watch the game and the bar staff were blowing these. AFter the third time, some choice words were said about where they would end up if they continued blowing them.
They stopped after that, but they were bloody noisy in a small place.

They're bloody noisy in a large place as well eh?!
Notable last night in the England game was the fact that the booing of the England fans was actually drowning out the noise of the Vuvu's!!
