Daily Mail might want to make an issue of it but the reality is he reacted in the spirit shared by most outfield players of all teams who spend 90 minutes claiming for throws/corners/goal kicks when they know they kicked it off, pretending to be hurt when they're not, asking for players to be booked, showing total disrepect to officials and so on.

Yes, every time. I was brought up not to cheat & I don't.

I have spent my whole life competing in sport BTW, although at a modest level in most sports & a reasonably decent level only in one or two.

I'm gobsmacked to be honest, that so many people think that because "everyone does something" it's fine (& clearly many people do think that). I don't personally give a fuck if every other person on the planet would do something I found despicable, it wouldn't make me do it. Since when does everyone go by the motto that as long as enough other people act in a shitty way it's fine for them to as well?

Kinda with Fella on this one, even if that is naieve. I know I've done some naughties in my time but FIFA have been banging on about fair play for years; if the goalie had shown an example of that today he'd have been a footballing hero I think.

"May the better team win". Not "May the better team win, if they get a lucky break with a decision" or anything else for that matter. They're only meant to be there to test which team is the best in the world, within the rules of the sport. Those rules are what make the game, the sport and this tournament so winning outside of those isn't worth much.

Knowing the ball was over the line and not saying so IS cheating, despite what many here earlier seemed to think. I wouldn't like to say 100% that I'd speak up but I have done in the past at (MUCH!) lower level and know many who have at nationaly level!

Its not the Keepers fault, nobody asked him and its not actually his job to know or to say one way or another. If he had have been asked and then lied that is wrong, instead he just did what everybody is taught when they are six at Day1 of Soccer School: "You play to the whistle". You dont decide when you are offside/onside or a ball is in/out of bounds or even crossed the goal line or not, you keep on playing as normal until you hear the whistle. Your opinion doesnt matter, keep going to the whistle no matter what.

I am in no way in favour of cheating and one of the things in this World that annoys me more than most things is the way players will blantantly have kicked the ball last out of play yet still raise their hands for a throw in THAT is cheating in my opinion. I think there is a lot to be said for good sportsmanship and being honest. I just in this case dont think the goalkeeper did anything wrong by playing on, he just did his job.

However then giving an interview to the world's media telling everyone how you folled the referee by playing on when you knew it was a goal, like an arrogant little shit is a bit much.

Goal keeper is innocent he played the game the right way . His job is to stop the ball going over the line his natural reaction was to catch the ball , when he did and ref got on with game he got away with it and did what everyone else would of done in that position .

The keeper is there to man the goal the referee has himself and two linesmen to consult with which he didn't , keeper 100 % innocent IMO .

Football is not an honest game and i watch alot of football and find that desicions like diving for peno s etc are given in alot of games , c'est la vie , if the german keeper had of said the ball was over the line I still don't think the referee can give it without seen it .

there were many strange decisions during this world cup by referees.
usa-slovenia should have ended 3-2. argentina - mexico : first goal was offside.
brazil - ivory coast: 2. goal was scored by using an arm. And also the germans had bad luck against serbia with the referee. wrong referee decisions are a part of soccer.

in the end england wasn´t good enough today and i doubt that a 2-2 had changed the outcome.

and none of the english players would have told it to the ref either if it had happened to them.
