Virgin Broadband Recommendations Or Other ISP's?
In the process of laying a horse arb last night I lost my internet connection, by the time i tried re-connecting and even trying to get my dongle working the race was over.
Talking to my colleague at work he mentioned that his internet had gone down and it was probably down to the stormy weather last night.
This got me thinking to switching to Virgin's fibre optic broadband and I was just wondering if anyone here uses it?
Has anybody got a UPS system in case of power cuts or anything else to minimise disruptions to their service?

I have a mobile Broadband dongle I carry about with me as one back up but I often actually forget to "carry it" and leave it in the wrong place at the wrong time. In theory though that is my back up. I havnt actually ever had a chance to effectively use it though. Thats for my laptop. I could always use my Iphone for betfair if I wanted these days.
I think overall given the number of years I have been doing this and the number of times I have had the internet go (and not come back) between placing one bet and not being able to place the other (I cant actually remember a time) it is such a freak event it is not worth factoring in too much. If it happens and the only bet you placed loses then that was unlucky. It could happen and the first bet you placed win, which was lucky. It will even out.
Have a plan and stick to it

Thanks for the replies.
Must admit thats the first time in over 10 years that I've ever lost my connection so agree with you Andy that it's a freak event. Just galling to see the profits go down the drain.

Have a look here:

might be of some use.
I'm with Bethere who are very good despite the shockingly 1980s style website.

I am not an expert on Broadband providers but, from personal experience, I don't ever want BT Broadband again. Absolutely terrible. It goes through days when it is basically useless. Today was one of them

Interesting, I stay with BT Broadband for the opposite reason, my connection is rock solid, if a little slow. Costs me more, but worth it.
Got a mifi dongle for on the move, a bit clunky but reliable piece of kit.

I think it might have something to do with the exchange here... apparently it's rubbish, but BT aren't interested in sorting it. I mean, the connection here is TERRIBLE.
I think researching the area might be a good idea before you buy.
