Do I need to be worried?

I keep hearing how the free bets are getting worse and how the "big boys" aren’t offering as good offers. (Mainly hearing this from MSE to be honest)

I'm wondering how much truth there is in these comments. I have only really just started match betting, but plan to do it for 3 years whilst I'm at university. Then I plan to save the money to start a business up when I finish. I'm a little worried by these comments, but can understand why this would happen with such forums as MSE being widely available.

I can imagine once too many people get into match betting (which I think is happening) that the bookies will not make it easy to make money from free bets, such as the casinos did with the bonuses. (Unfortunately I missed that earner but have read about it)

What do you guys on TGT think about this?

They said the same when I started a few years ago..No-one can say, but basically don't put off when you see an offer hoping for a better offer.. Jump in, while the goings good..

I would not be "worried" because you cannot change it, whatever will be will be. What Bella says though is what I would always advise, get stuck in and smash into everything in site as quickly as possible turnover is the key. You wont (at present) run out of offers/bonuses there is simply not enough time in the day to do them all. Look at the TGT relay diary thread for some ideas, most are different there is not a huge overlap.

I would say Casino bonus offers have/did end though, they are not what they were a few years ago when literally anyone could fill out a form and be £100+ richer a few hours later for virtually no risk. It has now become +EV gambling but still gambling.

Maybe it will be repeated at Sportsbooks but who knows, at the start of the year I did not expect to make £s at Digibet or NoIQ, I did not know I would get £75 reload at Bet-At-Home, Balkanbet and XLBet at the WorldCup, this week turfez gave me 50 Euros and today Bet365 gave me £100! Also this week VCbet and EuroSportbet bonuses have got smaller. It comes and it goes, swings and roundabouts. Just make hay whilst the Sun shines.
Have a plan and stick to it

Thanks for advice, my plan for now is to go for whatever offer is available; a lot different advice from MSE lol. But I feel the people here seem more knowledgeable about gambling matters

Yeah, according to MSE you should always "wait for Cheltenham"... that should be up there with the warning at the top of the page!

Seriously though, you can't make money by not opening accounts, and no-one knows if future offers will be better or worse than they are today.

Also, don't underestimate the cumulative value of the £5/£10 BOGOF type offers. On what I thought were dead months I was surprised to see I had still managed to make a couple of hundred quid, with the highest return from a single offer being about £7... by waiting for that extra £50 on the SUB you're likley to lose much more in missed opportunities.
Don't hate the player, hate the game!

Unless you have a good few gs you don't mind losing then you'll struggle with casinos. Sports are still ok.

I don't think anyone should worry just yet. There's still thousands of easy cash to be made if you look through the bookmakers section here. That is far from every bookie out there, and that does not take in to account reloads, bogof style offers, good if bets, arbs and so on.

I suspect that most of the people here are the same people as there! The difference isn't so much the people, it's the editorial line. To give one example, there is a very narrow definition of what constitutes risky or not risky at MSE & anyone who steps outside of it gets stamped on. Consequently most people learn not to step outside of it, or they end up not posting there very often.

Re your original question: Unless you're planning on giving up something to do this then you shouldn't be worried! Personally I'd give serious consideration to giving up any lucrative income stream you already have in order to do this, not just because of the longevity of bonuses, but because of things you can't control (for example taxation) & because of things you can try to control but may not be able to (for example, how much of this you can stand to do).

IMO there's likely to always be some sort of money to be made from AP, but it's certain to require continual evolution on the part of the AP-er. Or put another way: any relative newbie expecting to be able to milk an easy (by their own current definition of easy) living out of AP for the next few years is almost certain to be disappointed. However your own particular definition of "easy" may expand to include things you haven't even considered yet (or that any of us haven't considered yet) in which case you personally may make an "easy" living from this for ages....

Like most things, don't be scared of a bit of hard work and you can still make some decent money.
