    PC Security

I have just had the biggest wake up call in my life and not in a pleasant way. I am naturally pretty careful about what I do online in terms of usernames and password etc but never really done that much about my PC itself as generally only I use it.

This weekend my nephew was using it and managed to somehow (and I still do not know how properly, I am guessing from accesing my emails on my PC, password recovery or something) get in to a well known casino (will not say the name yet as I am in discussions with them over it but I do not think it will get me anywhere at the mo) on my account and deposited and started betting £1k per hand. No surprise it all got lost and distroyed most of my float.

I am still in complete shock over it and we are trying to establish whether what he done was a one off or a longer term issue. Either way please everyone double check your PC security if you havent already and fall for the same lull I did.

I am going to have to take a break from this now both from a float perspective and make sure I do not have it in my head the temptation to do something silly to try recover it. Anyway I am going to stop saying any more now otherwise it will start being like a MSE post, or is it already?

Unfortunatly yes, I have no idea what the hell was going through his mind.... which makes us wonder if it is a long term issue or he did not realise what he was doing. Without going in to too much detail incase I have virtually zero chance of getting it back from the casino or him

That's terrible... can't understand why someone would do that unless they had no idea what they were doing, but judging by what you said it shouldn't have been easy either!

I wish you the best of luck with them... fingers crossed I guess.

Good grief. I don't envy you on this one, both from a financial and family perspective. Is there any mileage in the kids under 18 cannot form a contract?

I did some crazy stupid stuff in my youth but thats kind of mental. Sorry to hear that mate, no only about the cash but about your nephew too. This kind of thing can put alot of strain on families, hope it works out ok and one day you can look back & if not laugh at least with a wry smile.

I just hope at some point your nephew gives you an explanation, its the least you deserve.
