    Betfairs multi

Ok there seems to be a lot of chat about this at the moment and how its not good (hmex)and how others make it pay.As most will know on hear i lost again yesterday,i have now tried it twice and have lost on both occasions.I am writing this post mainly for some chat and ideas that could perhaps be kept on how to go about doing them etc.Hmex is always saying they arnt that great and how you shouldnt overlap games etc,so for one i would like his opinion on mine from yesterday.I dont feel there was anything wrong with my selections but hear goes,

    2.30 ko hamburg/draw draw 1-1
    3.00 ko huddersfield/draw won 3-2
    5.00 ko barcalona LOST
    6.00 ko psg/draw won 4-0
9.00 ko bilboa v atletico draw atletico won LOST

My big chance of an out in this was the barca game which i thought about laying at the start but nipped out with my daughter, i wasnt to worried about that.Half way through the first half i was about to lay barca at 1.12 when my daughter dropped some ice cream which after i cleaned up and looked barca were 1-0 down and that was that.
As with lots of these sort of offers i think you need some form of strategy which i havnt really had so any ideas etc etc.Im really not sure whether to play them again but i would be very interested in other ideas.

Do you place a couple of quid back bet on the outsider too?

So yesterday I placed a covering bet of £2 on Hercules, who were odds of 50. So despite Barca losing, I was £93.50 up. Minus my stakes for back bets/multiple stake etc etc. Ended up £80 in profit from a £50 offer.

My last game was Real Madrid V Osasuna.

Real Madrid win/draw: -£50 (multiple stake), +£50 (multiple refund, as only one selection would have lost) , +£93.50 from Hercules back bet, -£13 from placing back bets to cover the outsiders = £80.50

Real lose: -£50 (multiple stake), no refund, +£93.50 from Hercules back bet, -£13 placing back bets, +£66 on Osasuna back bet (£3 @22.0) = £96.50

I had that covered in the multiple.

You can either select to win or draw by clicking both back boxes, or the way I did it was to lay the 4 outisders in the multiple, so I had Hercules as a lay, rather than backing Barca to win/draw. Laying is the same as backing the win/draw.

Skitz's strategy of backing the outsiders (having backed them to lose* within the multiple) does the job for me.

    * Within the bf multiple, I include a lay on each of 4 outsiders - equivalent to backing the favourites to win or draw.

Even allowing for the cost of the extra back bets, I can still make a tidy profit regardless of whether my multiple wins or not.

For example yesterday, I had the £100 stake bf multi offer. Although I staked a total of £50 on backing the outsiders (each to return £180 on winning), it meant I could still make a nice £30 profit even if one of the outsiders won. Yesterday was jackpot time because two of my outsiders won - Barcelona and Macclesfield - so I made £210.

I have come a cropper when not being able to back both the win and draw due to what bf put down to lack of liquidity.. Can still protect the multiple but requires backing the draw and trading if the game starts to go against you.

Skitz laying approach is great, gets around the above problem, no hasle at all. I can't wait to try it myself, although not today, not enough short priced games for my liking. Ta mate

I'm still getting my head around this, I had the £100 offer yesterday but didn't tackle it as I;m still not clear on the basic strategy for a 5 fold multiple:

    Is it:
Lay the 4 outsiders in the multiple combined with a back of an outsider, (hopefully the one that lets you down).

Once the multiple is in place, place a back bet seperately on the 4 outsiders to return more that the stake for the multiple and the refund.

    Possible outcomes:

All win: You get the return from the multiple - stakes to back the outsiders
1 loss: You get the refund + winning from outsider - stakes to back the outsiders
2 loss: You get winning from outsiders - stakes to back the outsiders
    etc:

Sorry if this sounds a bit dim, I'm sure that the penny will drop.

Almost. In your example you also need to lay the outsider you backed in the multiple. Otherwise in the most likely event that it is the only one in the multiple which loses you will be out of pocket.

In fact it is often better to choose a team at about evens but which you can can find a good match for as your 5th team. Today I chose to lay Liverpool as my 5th choice (odds 2.21) and backed them at cashpoint (at 2.25) (up to my limit) and the balance at interwetten (2.2). I am looking at a profit of just shy of £15 (for a £50 multiple stake); more if two of Liverpool and the outsiders win.

One variation if one or more of the matches start after others have finished is to wait before making the back bets on the later teams. Then if you one of your back bets on the earlier games has won there is no need to place any more (though of course you would not get a big bonus if any of the outsiders in the later games won).

    Hi,

I have had problems with these too.
I did my first horse multiple last week.
First day did it to near start and lost the whole £20.
So I decided to carry on for the refund.
Next 3 days I did one and each time layed off first horse at £20 so I got a 98p loss each day. So should be up £17. But of course I lost first race each time so I didn't have to do anything fancy.

Then yesterday I tried the five fold one loss refund.
I didn't really know what I was doing tbh.
I was offered the £100 refund offer so I did it with 4 outsiders and an evens 5th leg later on.
Hercules won and so did Macclesfiled. So I ended up losing two legs but being £170 up!!
    Whoohoo you would think.
    But...

I also did this as my mom and missus.
They both just had the £50 refund offer.
The first 2 won then hercules won.
I had read about using other multiples to cheaply lay off the utsider winning and I had messed it up. So I had only used doubles. But I now had 2 doubles sitting half won (50p at odds of 50) so in effect this was a back bet of 50p at 1103/1.
I though shall I hope Osasuma win and get £1000!!
I went in the middle and layed half off for an extra £25.
It got to half time and still 0-0. Odds were moving around. I got greedy and though wait til 2nd half. So I went off to bet on a horse for another offer.
Came back and was surprised that 2nd half had started AND Real had scored.
So couldn't lay the other double - it lost.

So at this point I had 1 loss. But for some strange reason I had read something that had made me pick a back bet for these two at 6 (rather than evens).
So the two multiples were sitting at lose all or get 2 x £50 back but at odds of 6. So only £7 profit in each.
I layed off the one and let the other ride - they lost.

    So I actually LOST £80!!
Total profit for the day was still £100 and lessons learnt - but it could have been much worse.

And now today I have done 3 lots of £50 again.
And I have messed up again!!
This time I picked an evens game for the last leg - nice and late - TOO LATE.
Game ends at 12:15 - didn't spot that the bets have to be settled before midnight.

So first 3 legs have won.
Fourth running at 8:30. And SHOULD win.
So I would be left with a five fold that has one lg left to run at evens.
So I will have to even up the profit from a win or bust perspective.

I am not deterred and I will carry on doing them.
I am learning all the time.
