How to Watch American TV Shows in the UK
I dont know how many people this will be useful to (dont know how many UK/US members there are in the forum!), but thought id post it just incase anyone can use the information.
So...I watch a lot of american TV shows and instead of having to download them, I set out to find a way of watching them online. There are plenty of websites out there which upload episodes onto megavideo or whatever, but often you find broken links or reach a limit on megavideo etc...it gets annoying after a while!
There are also sites like Hulu and NBC that allow you to watch american TV shows like you would on iPlayer or ITV player. The only problem is that when you try to watch a video on Hulu/ NBC, an annoying little message pops up telling you that the website may only be viewed in the UK.
So...in order to overcome this, here is a handy little program that will trick the websites into thinking that your computer is actually in the USA:
If you want to watch videos on Hulu etc, all you have to do is install and run the program, wait for the little globe on your connection icon in the system tray to dissappear, then go to the video website and it should load. Sometimes you may have to disconnect and reconnect the shield once or twice, but I usually dont have too much trouble with it!
This will allow you to watch Americas Got Talent, Heroes, E! News, Jimmy Kimmel, Glee, Family Guy, So You Think You Can Dance, etc etc...theres loads of shows on there. And you can watch them when the Americans watch them too!! lol!
Any questions/ problems, feel free to ask!
Thanks fio_501 have never known that
You're welcome...happy to help
justin.tv is a good one too. Normally someone broadcasting the big premiership games on there
There are so many annoying ads that come up (usually the the top of the page, so not always in the way), that I don't think I could use it.
I assume there is probably a version you can pay for with no ads?
Actually... maybe there isn't? Can't find anything about one anyway.
Of course, ads have to be there where do you want them to derive their revenue... if you are given free
