Help - my match has been postponed
Rather stupidly I arbed the Liverpool v Fulham game last night even though there was the risk of cancellation. It has now been postponed due to the snow.
I have a £25 back bet on Coral, long odds, and a matching lay bet on Betfair.
Since these bets will now be void, can anyone tell a newbie exactly what this means? Am I screwed?
All is means is that the rules at Betfair and at Coral relating to postponements now kick in.
Where a match is postponed or cancelled from the day for which it is was scheduled at the time the bet was struck, all bets on that game will be void, unless it is played before the end of the same calendar week (calendar week = Monday to Sunday).
If a match has not started (or if Betfair believes that a match will not have started) by 23:59 (local time) on its scheduled start date, then all bets will be void unless Betfair has knowledge that the match has been rescheduled to be played within three days of its original start date.
With the busy period coming up which will see teams playing (or scheduled to play) every 3-4 days then I don't see them squeezing in this fixture really... but whenever something is postponed or abandoned, you just look in the rules section of each site to figure out your position. Here, it just looks like your stakes at both sides will be returned.
In this particular example unless the match is played before Midnight tomorrow then both bets will be void, do nothing, get both stakes back (and depending on where you bet if your lucky you may still get some points, every cloud )
As a general rule exactly what Mbox said, check the rules, see the exact replay timeframe for if the bet will stand or not, act accordingly. Its easiest and most common that they dont replay for a while and all bets are off.
Have a plan and stick to it
Phew!!!!! Thanks. I am very relieved.
For a moment there I thought that void bet := no stakes returned!!
The lay exposure represented nearly all of my profits so far.
OK now I think I will go and play with Betfair's Exchange Games offer (WR £50, £25 refund on losses).
Although you didn't say, since you were betting at long odds I suspect you might have been using a SNR free bet?
If there is a greater than normal risk of game cancellation I would avoid using a free bet, as it's possible that you could lose that as there is no "stake" to return after the bet being voided at the bookies.
Good advice. I have a £50 SNR freebet but I couldn't see a way to use it at Coral - not sure if it's sticky (ie. empty your balance out 1st).

i had this today as well - had the liverpool game CS to use my betinternet SNR SUB but bloody snow buggered that up! Voided at both betinternet and betfair and betinternet have credited the free bet back to my account (great live chat CS by the way!)
Sticking to continental games for the rest of the weekend i think
To use your coal free bet you have to use your own cash first. Think you can withdraw your cash without losing the free bet, but i'm not 100% on that

Usually Coral uses free balance first.
Have a (free) bet with Ladbrokes on the draw for Husqvarna v Motola tonight.
(Swedish Div 1 Sodra).
Have layed at Betfair.
Flashscores is telling me the match is postponed - what happens now?
Are both bets cancelled? or carried forward? or what?
This is only my 6th bet, and I have found a postponed game in the middle of summer!
Any advice appreciated
