Debit card with zero cost for payments overseas

    Hi all ,

this is pretty much a newbie post for me. I just joined up with premier membership a couple of days ago and have been reading the posts on recommended ways of approaching US bookies. I've been doing matched betting/bonus bagging etc for about 2 years now but nothing like the level of some of the more experienced guys/gals on here (I have turned an 8k profit though over the 2 years.) Anyway, when i was reading the posts on approaching US books it states it is recommeded to have a VIP MB account in $ to save on currency conversion fees (make a 1 off deposit and recycle the $)
I also noticed somewhere a post stating that Nationwide Flexi account is now charging 1 or 2% on overseas transactions. I've just been checking my other bank accounts and have found out that A&L (now Santander) have launched a new account called Zero and it looks like oversears transactions on debit card are free. Existing customers can upgrade so long as they have Ł10k across any product.
Just thought i would share this piece of info i have just this minute found out as i dont want to take something from this community without giving something back.

    Later

Hi morris, welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the info, there is mention of it somewhere although it is a question of searching for it and it's not so obvious perhaps! These threads here cover the kind of thing you're talking about:

The Gambling Times - Threads Tagged with banking
The Gambling Times - Threads Tagged with currency
The Gambling Times - Threads Tagged with forex (not so many on that tag)

I think you added the banking tag, the currency one is also useful, forex slightly but not so much.

From memory this thread is/was quite useful though probably slightly out of date now:

Here's a possible replacement for Nationwide now that they charge for foreign currency transactions: http://www.thegamblingtimes.com/boar...tml#post252567

morris - did you get your current account upgraded? any catches?

I'm still using the flex account and the fees are pi55ing me off.

Also have a leaflet from the Post Office - its a credit card with 0% commission on "purchases overseas" which i guess would include deposits/withdrawls to bookies - anyone go any experience with this?

Sorry a bit off topic but does anyone know if there is a cash advance charge for uploading funds to moneybookers using a credit card?

Some don't. It depends on the card I think.
