Eighteen months and then I am out of the game!
*Warning* I am mildly dyslexic so please excuse any spelling, grammar errors or just out right nonsense
Ok here it goes; hopefully people will enjoy my post.
I’ve decided that even though I enjoy Aping in all its form, I plan on doing as much as humanly possible in the next 18 months and then stop for good. The reasons behind this are that I feel I spend far too much time in front of the computer and once these 18 months are up I will hopefully get a job, so won’t have enough time to place bets anymore.
Because of this I reckon I should try go out with style, with an original idea..........A weekly Dairy
My goal is to use the money I earn over the next 18months to help set myself up for when I leave University. I will use the money to hopefully set up my first business and then try my best to build a life for myself. I know that sounds like a bit of a stretch, but got to try it.
So here is my plan, it will be a weekly diary of my Aping over the next 18 months, each post will be as detailed as I can do and will be posted each Sunday evening, starting 30/01/11 and Ending 02/08/12 ( Not sure if that is exactly 18 months but those are the dates) I will include my float, profit/loss, details of offers and any other information I think might be relevant or interesting.
I will take part in any offer that my float can handle and that is +EV so, Sports (UK,EU,AUS,US), games, casino, bingo, anything goes baby
A little bit about me and my activities...................
I’m 24 years old in my second year of university and over the past few years have struggle with certain issues, which I won’t go into here. I was very lucky to get a place at university as when I originally finished school I didn’t really have any qualifications and have had to work hard the past 5/6 years.
Anyway before Aping I tried my hand at poker and thought I could become a professional player at some point (Oh how wrong I was). I played for about 2 years and lost about 3k in total; just couldn’t control my tempter, which lead to me tilting and of course losing my bankroll, again and again. Eventually I knocked poker on the head and didn’t really do any gambling for a couple of years, until something really unfortunate happened.
Not long ago my father went bankrupt due to high levels of debt and the recession (probably not the only one). Anyway this quickly made me realize that I was in a very vulnerable position, so I decided to change universities, get a part time job and live at home to save money and help my family.
During this tough time I was on the internet one evening looking for ways to make extra money and I came across a wonderful site.........MSE and started to learn match betting. Not long afterwards I found TGT and have never looked back since.
Over the past 6months I have put a lot of effort in to learn the trade and have done ok from it. I started with £170 and now have a float of over 3k, plus lots of experience, thanks to the extremely helpful and smart people from TGT.
I have been very lucky over the last 6 months, getting extra free bets from SUB’s, making a profit from the crazy Betfair casino offer and of course winning 4k from one evening on slots (This money had to be spent on something other than my float) Lady luck has been watching over me ; I think she might get bored soon and move on.
I won’t go on much more as this is becoming a long post for people to read, but I will just write out my goals/starting details for the next 18 months and then that will be it, untill the 30/01/11.
Start Date: 30/01/11
End Date: 02/08/12
Starting Float: 3.5k
Emergency funds: (Student loans): 2.5k
Realistic ending total £15k
Ok that’s all folks, hope the post wasn’t too long for people to read
Just want to end by saying thank you to the TGT community I wish you all the best of luck in 2011
P.S. If people have objections to me writing this diary (as they seem to be quite common) or if this is posted in the wrong part of the forum, please write a comment telling me to shut up and I won’t bother with this diary.
One day you have it........Next it's AllGone
Nice one, looking forward to reading this (I'm in a very similar position to you, albeit without a firm ending date)
Go for it Allgone, best of luck to you....
good luck mate, what is thus £4k win you talk?! you jammy git
I am in about the same position in life as you are, doing this marlarky because it earns more than I need to get through uni and pays a lot better than working 20 hours in a supermarket.
I don't plan on carrying this outfit on after university either. My float is around the same as yours, and I challenege you Sir, to beat me by 30th June 2012.
Best of luck to you then.
I would reccomend the usual, create your own list of bookies, and then come up with an order in which you mean to signup to them.
Keep an eye out on the forums for ad-hoc bonuses, and check before you signup to any bookie if they tend to have better offers say around cheltenham etc.
I've got a list of ~180 bookies, and my plan this year is to have at least my next 5 offers penciled in every sunday. That way when i come back from work, i pop online for a wee bit, and dont stpend too long on the pc, if i find something on a monday night then great, if not then try again later and head off to the pub.
If you are happy enough to list your bookies, we could possibly help give you a running start for the end of this month?
Good luck mate,im sure a lot of us will find your diary a good read.Hopefully you hit your target and give yourself a good start with your business.
Best of luck!
You might re-think that quitting in 18 months thing though, you don't have to AP 50 hours a week!
Nothing wrong with dipping in for an hour or 2 a week and making yourself an extra £50 a week once you have a job. Put away for a year, that's a nice holiday
Nice one Allgone.
I would re-assess your situation in 18 months, as I am sure a lot of us on here are part time MBers, with full time jobs.
As they say "every little helps" Best of Luck.
