Is it worth starting again?
Some of you may remember me from this forum and MSE from a few years ago but as it's been a while I'll probably be completely unknown to most people. I did fairly well but gave up chasing offers a couple of years ago (varied reasons but spending hours looking at odds and ignoring my family was a large part of it, profit per hour fell and frankly I just got bored!)
To bring things up to date I've just broken my ankle by being an arse when climbing so I'm off work for a month. With lots of time on my hands I'm looking something to do and pornography and matched betting are the two main things that the internet offer me.
So...is it worth getting back into? My boredom threshold is low - i'm not going to chase 98% returns and frankly if I have to spend more than 3 minutes looking for a match I''ll just give up, so 5xWRs for a SNR are out. I'd consider casinos again, although Andy may remember that my success rate was low to say the least. Happy with financial spread betting although as I've got a number of those then new sign-ups may be thin on the ground
To be honest, I'd be doing it more for the interest than the money (though that would be an added bonus). Some of you may remember I like the maths and strategy so 'interesting' things may be more my cup of tea.
So - any ideas, or should I just get my credit card out and pay for another webcam dance?
Casinos are pretty much dead in the water now from what I can see. Or at least there arent that many/any BlackJack WR offers left.
I guess it's up to you. I dont think things are really much different to when you left. If you have been out for a while then there must surely be a good few offers out there for you.
It would be good to have you back with us. You were my first RAF, and nobody forgets their first RAF.
BTW, I put together a sheet for accounting. Doesnt do any maths (I remember you liked doing that yourself) but does other things, such as undoing bets, transactions etc.

For the best reasons I hope!
Ooh a spreasheet! I'm getting tempted already!
Hey welcome back lazza long time no see.
I broke my ankle as well rock climbing (although I'm sure yours was a lot more spectacular than mine, I fell from a climbing wall in a climbing centre when I was 14 or something and it was probably only about 10ft up lol... bloody hurt though and I can still hear the cracking noise!).
Whether it's worth getting back into or not... well I used to hate those kind of posts that said along the lines of 'it aint what it used to be' but I must admit the recession seems to have hit gaming sites fairly hard in the last 1-2yrs. Casinos have pretty much closed ranks and even the previously great places like Ladbrokes are resorting to quite roguish tactics to avoid paying bonuses.
Sportbooks similarly aren't overly generous nowadays with their bonuses, but there are still a few around (dafabet comes to mind). Arbing is still fairly good as a main stay although is tempting to say the overrounds there have even come in a bit over the years...
Anyway not all doom and gloom, I think it's worth a go, would be interesting to see how you think things are now compared to when you went afk so to speak.
Cheers guys. I'll have a bit of a scoot around some sites and decide whether to start again
Actually my fall was even less impressive - a climbing wall as well, but I jumped off from about 6-7 ft. I'd have been fine except that my left foot caught in a rope 3ft from the ground so I came down with the full weight on my right heel which is in several pieces.
First things first though. It's lovely and sunny outside so a nice cuppa then sit out in the garden. It's a hard life!
Lazza, I gave up around the same time as you for kind of the same reasons.
Recently just started again and the money is there to be had, but the challenge is also still as exciting.
Definitely get back into it fella!!
Lazza it's good to see you back I remember you were a talented poster on MSE and Rpoints too IIRC.
Probably stating the obvious but the diary where two posters record their weekly activity is a great resource. Looking at the returns some posters make shows it can still be done.
The USA bookies thread is also excellent and hopefully there is something there for you. It's certainly a good time to be doing these what with Baseball starting again.
Also hanging around the chat thread can be very helpful. Between these three there is definitely opportunity for you.
This is the diary thread:
What I find most interesting is that no two weeks seem to be the same and everyone has different ideas and strategies and focus on different things. It is always food for thought.
Have a plan and stick to it
Here's my opinion for what it's worth mate. I would say yes, get back into it. As it slowly cruises towards the tipping point it will more or less die out (not completely, but it will become much harder and time consuming.)
Milk it for what you can now mate, I do as much out of this weekly than I did working 40 hours a week busting my arse as a dray man. And trust me, this is a damn site easier lol!

The cuppa was nice, but as the day wore on, beer seemed a better option. The sun's been shining all day again so beer won over tea again.
