3G Ipad on "PAYG"
I bought my g/f an Ipad with the 3G PAYG option on "PAYG".
She just tried to use the 3G for the first time, and, unbelievably, the only way you can use it is if you give your credit card details & set up a recurring monthly payment to O2 to buy 1GB of data every month (or more).
This is an utter piss-take IMO. How exactly can that be defined as PAYG or "no contract" when it very clearly is a pay monthly contract?
DAK if there is any true PAYG option i.e. buy a GB of data then take as long as u want to use it & when it's gone buy another GB? Or if perhaps I'm misunderstanding how this works (I dont' think I am from the research I've done so far). Seems unbelievable they are getting away with a scam like that.
Fella, as far as I know you can get your iPad unlocked and get a pay as you go sim from 3 or something and just buy a new one every time the data credit has run out in it, I think you can get them for around £7.50 for a 3gb sim
This is an unlocked iPad (altho it currently has an O2 sim). Trouble is O2 is the only network that tends to have coverage in the places where we'd need it. I did have 3 for a year or two because it was a good deal but gave up on it in the end as the coverage is so poor where I am. Hm, have to keep thinking I guess.
Giffgaff don't allow tethering, so ipads are out with them. Good for smartphones though with unlimited internet.
