Spiderbox HD9000 - more football than you can ever imagine having access to watch
I mentioned I purchased one of these in another thread i started a few weeks back asking what people had bought with their matched betting/advantage playing profit - Heres the thread: http://www.thegamblingtimes.com/boar...aping-pot.html
Since then I have been inundated with pm's from a lot of people asking various questions about the Spiderbox. I replied to a few people but it got to the point where i was getting pm's daily so i thought to myself, when i get chance, i'll pop a thread on here with a bit of info which will hopefully clear a few things up and answer a few people questions on the subject instead of replying to people individually (sorry to the ones i didn't reply to in the end!!!) I also said on chat on friday that i would get something on here at the start of this week so here it is!
I'm a big Liverpool fan and i live near York. Up until the last couple of years i used to go and watch Liverpool quite a lot at Anfield with my old man and/or brother. The last couple of years has seen me split with my ex missus, sell the house i had with her, buy another house with my current missus and have a baby with her! Busy and expensive couple of years you could say. Factor that in with the fact its a good hour and a half drive to get to Liverpool from where i am and i work every other saturday i don't get to many games now. Infact you can count on 2 hands how many games i've been to over the last couple of seasons. I'm still in the priority membership scheme which means i stand a good chance of getting tickets when i want them (£30 for this privalege) but i wanted something to enable me to watch most if not all games if possible.
I've done my research on this subject for a good 3 years or so now and I finally took the plunge in february this year and went ahead and bought the set up that i have now got. If i knew then what i knew now i would have taken the plunge a long time ago.
I've basically got one of these: [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Spiderbox-9000-HD-USB-PVR/dp/B0046B8060/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312941686&sr=8-1]Spiderbox 9000 HD USB PVR: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics[/ame] (i didn't buy from Amazon)
As well as this receiver i've got a 97cm motorised dish. Paid a chap recommended to me £420 for everything, which included the full installation and set up - so receiver, dish, motor, all cables etc. No money changed hands until everything was sorted and i was happy with everything. I now a mate £8 a month for the full Sky UK package (including all HD/3D channels). Much better than paying £50+ a month i'm sure you'll agree. I also pay another guy (i don't personally know this chap) £13 a month for a huge package which includes all the channels i require to watch all the football i want. There are many packages out there, it's just a case of selecting the package that is right for you. My package includes the following:
SKY ITALIA FULL + HD & 3D All sports and calcio included
The others are Juventus + Inter + Milan + Roma + Moto + Cacia
Sky Germany FULL HD & 3D

Fantastic choice. Incredible choice actually and as long as you have a decent broadband connection and everything set up correctly you won't have any issues with this. Its all done through card sharing and the internet connection from the person who shares his cards/packages with you and from their box to yours.
Heres a few handy sites that i regularly use:
*** L.J.s LIVE Sport on Satellite TV. Live Soccer on TV. Live Football on Saetllite TV.
A very useful website which not only shows which channels each Premiership game is on but also all the footy all over the world. A quick look at that shows me that i will be able to view every single game this weekend bar the Blackburn game on one channel/satellite or another. The Liverpool game is currently on at least 7 channels on saturday that i can pick up so it will be a case of deciding whether i can find a channel in HD with english commentary or settling for SD with english commentary. To be honest i'm not usually bothered about what language the commentary is in and normally just go for a HD channel. Bear in mind that some of the HD channels are far, far superior in terms of picture quality compared to Sky.
Premium CCCAM Servers
You will probably need to register to this before you can view it but it shows all the different servers/packages available to subscibe to. All servers are available for a 24 hour test, so you can test to see what you are actually getting and what the quality of the server is like before buying. You can usually subscibe for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, a year at a time. The longer you pay for at a time the more discount you usually make compared to if you subscribe monthly.
Again you will probably need to register first before you can see this link but this was my main source of research and tells you pretty much everything you need to know.
Not sure whather i've gone in depth enough with this and i certainly hope i haven't broken any rules posting what i've posted as it is only aimed helping people and share the knowledge i've got. I'm sure people will have questions to ask so ask them in here and i'll do my best to answer them (better than pm'ing me!)
Off to bed now as it's getting late but i really hope (even if it's just one person) someone on here gets a similar set up to the one i've got because it really will be some of the best money you will ever part with. Fantastic set up believe me.
One fianl thing - don't worry about the size of the dish! It is perfectly legal and as long as you don't live in a special area (listed building, conservation area etc) you will not need any permission off the council to install the dish.
Will try and get some pictures up of my dish/set up on here ASAP
Many thanks for this - after reading the "what you have bought" thread I was meaning to look into this.
Is there a forum/website you would reccomend where I could find out more information about card sharing over the internet?
Card Sharing General Discussion
You can read up about card sharing here.
Card sharing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wiki link explaining card sharing and how it works (very informative)
Google is probably your best bet after these 2 links. Plenty of info out there. Hopefully these couple of links will give you a bit mote help with what you are looking for research wise.
Thanks for the thread gaz, I take it you use your broadband connection to connect to the server and the channels are streamed through your dish? In other words this shouldn't put too much strain on my broadband connection?
Thats the theory (kind of). You won't even notice your internet connection is being used (kind ofruns in the background if you like). Cable runs from your router to the back of the Spiderbox so you are constantly connected but of course you can turn the Spiderbox off when not in use which isn't a problem. Just takes a few seconds to re-connect when you turn it back on but it's not an issue.
It is not legal to view pay tv channels in the UK without a valid subscription. I definitley should have put that in the first post so appologies. It.was getting late and I needed my bed! Just like its not legal to download music/films via p2p sites/torrents etc. But how many people don't download from these places? I do and I have done for years. its exactly the same principle with card sharing. Whether people agree with that is another arguement but I'm sure as hell plenty of people on here will do exactly the same as me. If you don't agree with it then don't do it, its quite simple really. Personally the risk in my opinion is tiny and well worth it.
Going back to card sharing - the authorities however are far more concerned with the people who run the servers rather than the people who pay to view them. I have never come accross any stories where somebody has paid for a package like I do and gotten in to trouble because of it. That's not to say nobody hasn't of course. The main issues are the people sharing the packages and these are the people the authorities go after with great difficulty of actually doing anything.
Of course Sky know card sharing goes on. There are ways and things you can do to make it extremely difficult to be traced sharing. I'm not doing sharing, I just want to be able to view it and not be paying ridiculous amounts of money in the process. I'm not preaching what I'm doing is right or wrong, all I'm saying is the risk for me is small, the benefits are huge and the fact of the matter is, right or wrong, card sharing goes on and LOTS of people are part of it just like downloading music/films illegally. The choice is yours whether you want to get involved or not.
I don't think anything is totally futureproof. However, the motorised dish set up will do a job for a number of years I'm sure (damage permitting) so it would probably just be a case of upgrading the receiver (in my case the Spiderbox) to something which did the job if the Spiderbox could no longer do it. The Spiderbox itself cost under £200 from Alsat when I purchased it so the other £220 was on installation, cables, dish, motor etc. All things that should last a long while. It would only be receiver that MIGHT need replacing if it could no longer do the job.
One other thing worth noting is this works perfectly well as a freevieew box including the HD channels. You can also pick up a lot of foreign channels totally legally and some show 3pm kick offs. Not that you'd spend the money I spent on this just to act as a freeview set up but you can see what I'm trying to say!?!
Very valid points evil, I think the Spiderbox will do the job though for quite a while yet though. Often there will always be someone who knows how to get round obstacles! I think we are some way off that just yet.
Here are a few uploads I have literally just taken just to give you an idea of the channels available and the quality of those channels. The following channels are just an example and are just a handful of the HD channels available to me that will be showing the Liverppol/Sunderland game this saturday:
Photo 1 shows the Spiderbox itself
Photo 2 shows Spanish channel Canal+ Futbol HD available on 19.2 east Astra satellite
Photo 3 shows Italian channel Sky Calcio HD1 available as part of the Sky Italia package available on 13 east Hotbird satellite
Photo 4 shows Sky Sports HD1 again available as part of the Sky Italia package available on 13 east Hotbird satellite
Photo 5 shows Spormax another HD channel this time as part of a Turkish package on 7 east Eutelsat satellite
