    British Open Prop

Interesting little matchup prop over at BetJoint:

    Tournament prop:
    Ernie Els -140 vs.
    Padraig Harrington +110

As you might know, Harrington injured his wrist recently and hasn't been able to finish the practice rounds the last 2 days. You can read about it more here:

Injured Harrington questionable for British Open - Golf - Yahoo! Sports

Now, Harrington has said that if this was another tournament, he would be at home. Also, he said that it's about a 75% chance that he'll tee off in the first round and a 50% chance that he'll finish the first round.

In order for the prop to get action both players must start the tournament. I'm pretty sure Harrington will at least give it a go since he is defending champ. A couple other facts:

    - Els is the 2nd to 3rd (depending on the book) odds on favorite to win the tournament
    - Harrington isn't listed in the matchup props at a couple other books that I've seen since they probably pulled him on the news of the injury

Bottom line: I'll throw some money Els' way at -140 on a guy that is one of the favorites to win the tournament against the defending champ who'll start to feel the pain once he hits a shot out of the deep rough. Worst case scenario, I see a push if Harrington can't tee off tomorrow, but then again... you never know....

Well, you might be thankful you did. The weather has been pretty bad from what I've read and Harrington was able to finish his first round at +4. Meanwhile, Ernie came through with a nice +10 round, so things don't look too good. Need Ernie to at least put together a good round tomorrow or he'll probably miss the cut. Ugh...
