The Gambling Times Forum Posting Rules - Cashback Sites and Affiliate Links
The Gambling Times (TGT) is an affiliate to a large number of gaming sites which are reviewed on our various lists and ranked accordingly. Some of these sites pay a commission for attracting new customers. At certain sites a % of this commission is paid to active TGT members who have joined through the site and generated that commission. Those sites are visable by the "Claim £5" icon by the review. As well as the £5 referral, active members of the forum also benefit from a high level of support should they encounter problems at a site we reviewed and recommended, and there is a pool of money set aside to reinburse them should people lose out unfairly in any disputes. There are also additional benefits in the way of no loss bets and other TGT exclusive bonuses, freerolls and other random competitions.
In order to maintain this high level of support and to provide the community with these exclusive offers, it is important that users of the forum continue to use the affiliate links that we promote - without this the TGT website and forum would probably cease to exist.
With this in mind, from June 1st 2009 all posts made on the forum which mention/relate to/or generally advertise any other cashback websites OR affiliate deals (without prior consent) may be subject to moderation - including editing and/or deletion of posts which are deemed as unacceptable. Users who persistently ignore this rule will in the first instance lose their Premium membership status (if applicable). Further infractions may be penalized with suspension and in the extreme the user in question will be banned from the forum.
This decision has not been taken lightly and a great amount of thought has gone into how to approach the problem so as not to alienate anyone, or break up what has become a very successful and thriving community. We are aware that this stance may appear extreme but it is also important to be consistant and clear about what "is" and "is not" acceptable. The website is about how to make money GAMBLING online, and one of the most commonly used ways to do that is by exploiting the value given by promotional offers and bonuses, so links and references to websites which offer a better bonus than TGT is still fine.
For the majority of users this change will make absolutely no difference whatsoever - for the most part the kind of posts that will be subject to moderation are simply those that refer to a competitor of TGT, namely quidco.com but there are several others too. If anyone wants to use those services then that is entirely up to them but by doing so no contribution is being made to support this website, and so there is certainly no need to advocate it on OUR forum!
If a seperate website/forum/newspaper/whatever, has a better bonus available only through them and this offer beats TGT then that is still (as it always has been) fine to post about and promote. References to other forums or direct links to bookmakers/casino sites themselves will NOT be subject to moderation as long as the bonus is better and it is in everyones interest to publicise it. RAF "deals" to acceptable sites can still be offered by eligible members and discussed in the relevant forum section as well.
All the best,
TGT Team
