RSS / news feed readers for TGT

Hey, I'm looking into news readers for the first time.
Seems like a really useful tool.
I visit the forum here regularly and it'd be nice to add it to google reader.

    Has this ever been considered?
It appears as though it's just a checkbox in vbulletin.
    Your thoughts?

Yes I'm aware of enabling RSS feeds in vBulletin but to be honest I don't think it'd get much use. I think perhaps one other person has asked about it in the last 2 years. See how it goes, if many others would find it useful then it might be worth looking into.

    Cheers.

    I think it might be worth a try - if it's not a lot of trouble to implement; especially if it can be used in Firefox's built-in 'live bookmarks' RSS feed feature like this;

Yes but a. if noone uses it and b. there's overhead involved in the background then it's probably not worth it.

But yes if there are a few people who will use it then perhaps it's worth looking at. I had actually meant to have a look into this today but didn't get around to it.

I used to use RSS a lot and must admit probably would have done it already if I still did (although to be honest I never ever used an RSS feed on a forum before for various reasons, mainly because I just had too many feeds to read anyway and reading one for a forum that has more than a few posts per day is a right PITA!).

I will see what Andy says about it, if anyone's bored, has the tech knowledge and wants to look into it and let me know if it involves much overhead in background processing that would be great (such a lazy b@stard!).

I dont mind either way really, I wouldnt use it I dont think but if its easy to set up and doesn't cause any long term problems I certainly dont/wouldnt mind.

I dont know how to set it up though?
Have a plan and stick to it

Ok I've set this up now, anyone who wants to use an RSS feed reader to read the forum can now do so if they wish. Please let us know if you use it / how you find it (especially if there are problems).

    Cheers.

Munk, as promised here's some feedback which I hope will be of some use...

Firstly, viewing the RSS feed in Firefox works fine using said browser's native RSS client.

The feed can also be viewed without any probs using Outlook 2007's native RSS client.

Lastly, thanks for your time and effort in getting the RSS feed setup - a welcome feature that I'm sure will be come in handy. I'm an avid fan of RSS feeds (when I can be arsed to set them up that is ) as it makes disseminating information from various websites so much easier.

Fantastic, thanks! Working fine as a Firefox LiveBookmark, and I'm tempted to try it tomorrow on my mobile - I like the way that you can subscribe to a particular board or the forum as a whole. I'll report again after using it for a few days.
