    Annual TGT Conference

I dont know whether this has ever been thought of before, but wouldnt it be a fantastic idea to arrange a get together in the flesh so to speak,
a sort of TGT Conference at a Hotel with Conferencing Facilities.

There could be a day filled with seminars Q&A sessions etc, and maybe a social evening (Virtual Horse racing even!).

It would be great to meet people and put faces to names, and I'm sure people would be willing to pay a fee for this (maybe slightly discounted for premium
members). TGT could also negotiate a preferential rate for rooms for those people that wanted to arrive the day before or maybe save a drive home until the next day.

I'm sure many of us novices would be able to learn so much. So whats in it for the more experienced members? - well those that were prepared to present a paper could receive a fee out of the proceedings?

Am I alone in thinking this is a good idea?

Would one of the Forum Moderators be willing to arrange such a day? - if its a success then it could become an annual event and it will be yet another
    revenue stream for TGT.

A quick brain dump of suggestions for topics:

    • Getting Started
    • Best Bookies
    • Bookies to Avoid
    • How to minimise losses / maximise profits
    • Dutching
    • Horse Betting
    • Understanding Handicaps - Asian / European
    • Trading
    • Back/Lay now or in-play?
I'm sure there are many more that can be added.

There could be a parallel stream for those more interested in Casino related topics.

This post is intended to stimulate some debate and see if there is any interest in such an event. Hopefully one of our esteemed Moderators will think this is a good idea and we can have a poll to determine how many members would be interested in attending such an event.

    I second that.

Sounds like an ace plan - although as much to put faces to usernames as anything else.

Andy was suggesting an Xmas party also in the chat?

And obviously alcohol needs to be involved

I like the idea of a meetup but I am not sure if having a seminar type meetup is the best idea.

First of all I am not sure who should talk about strategy and handicaps and dutching and laying. Also who would want to do it? TGT holds close to its heart that there is no "best" strategy that everyone should use. What works for you is not necessarily the best for me.

Take this IASbet risk free bet for tonight,
Some would argue to just punt it.
Some would argue to back/lay at high odds with a big underlay.
Some would argue to "treat as snr" (not the same as big underlay).
    +++

I think that the forum is here for talk of strategy and sharing ideas and that it works well enough. Having "speakers" would imply that someone is better at something than everyone else and I am not sure how true that is. I find that so many of our members, and definitely the ones I would imagine could be interested in a meetup, have come pretty far. What if the person who speaks don't know anything that you don't know and you have to pay for it and he gets paid for it? I don't want any one to be disappointed.

I would of course try my very best to attend no matter what the format would be. I think it would be fun to put faces to usernames and avatars (Should I wear a Mario costume??). Some of us have to travel quite a bit or have families so do let us know in advance

There is a small hazard in that it could get very awkward to talk to each other without a chatbox but I guess that happens a lot anyway in real life situations when you meet new people. If nothing else I guess we could argue about whether or not it is better to use betfair or the asians.

If someone actually did discuss an Xmas party then I think that would be difficult for me to attend
