Microgaming Poker Network will be adopting the 'Weighted Contribution'

Dunno anything about Poker, but picked this up in the industry press:

The Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) will be adopting the 'Weighted Contribution' method of rake calculation which it claims will encourage operators to bring in players at a lower skill level, typically referred to as fish. Andrew Clucas of Microgaming Poker Channel said: "The introduction of the new Weighted Contribution will reward operators with a greater proportion of looser, fishy type players, encouraging them to target these players proactively. It is belived this initiative will encourage the right sort of contributing players in to the Network whilst discouraging the grinding type of behaviours which can be so negative to the health of the Network."

Tragic. Microgaming was one of the last bastions of easy bonuses. I probably made more from Microgaming (aka Prima) than any other engine when I used to play poker. Their old system was that any hand where the pot reached $5 counted as 1RH even if all you did was fold. And back in the day there were untold bonuses along the lines of $200 bonus for 1,000RH. $200 bonus for being present in 1,000 hands where the pot reached $5 - a doddle even at micro-stakes.

Weighed contribution basically means that high-rollers will do well & everyone else will struggle to ever clear a bonus. Small-stakes &/or tight players (& especially tight small-stakes players) will find clearing any bonus almost impossible.
