Urgh I did that once as well on some obscure match, didn't realize the time and couldn't lay before it went in play. However it turned out to be quite a baptism of fire to the world of dutching, I ended up finding a couple of other bookies that were magically doing in play betting on the match and managed to somehow wangle a 3way dutch that left me slightly out of pocket but not too bad at all considering... that was also how I first bet at stan james I think, one of the in play places was stan, good old stan

Lost £50 on one of my 365 qualifiers. Saw a good match and thought I'd use it. However I left it too close to the off so I was able to back but the game started before I could lay, and I wasn't able to bet in play. So all I could do was hope the team would win but they weren't the favourite and you can guess what happened.
This is my first big error and it feels pretty shit!
Also got banned from promotions @ bet365 today!
I have been banned today too - have just been chatting in live chat with them and after threatening them with Trading Standards because I have an email offering me a bonus and I've just about qualified for it they can't withdraw it without notice. As a compromise they have agreed to let me have the 3rd £50 bonus when I place one more bet but the 4th is a no no.

Annoyingly as we were chatting I got a strop and withdrew everything from the account and now I've got to get £50 back in there so its a race between Betfair and Bet365 into Moneybookers!!
Why on earth do they offer a £200 bet basket if they kick people out before they get it and therefore lose their custom in the future?
After a break from betting my profit at the end of January 2010 (13 months since starting) is at £6,153.
amberpunter, not really the right place to go on about this in this thread but if you want to have a look in the complaints threads, there was a link to a post over on MSE where someone got Bet365 to uphold their bet basket offer after threatening them with legal action. I'll try and find a link now. Here it is:
I made a mistake recently where I bet on 1st half asian handicap rather than fulltime. Didn't realise till after the game to find myself an extra £150 up, I thought you jammy beggar. Other than that nothing major forgot I was betting in USD at one bookie and GBP at another when dutching and backed regular draw instead of handicap draw recently. Managed to fix both in betfair for very little loss luckily. I think the trick is knowing at some point you will make a daft mistake and learning not to panic and how best to fix it. You read about so many newbs getting their knickers in a twist on MSE posting garbled nonsense on how to right their mistake when they haven't fully understood what they are doing in the first place. Rant over
Well I can add my first major cock up. I just popped back to see how a heroes/betfair basketball match worked out and discovered that I had never placed the bet at Heroes - obviously didn't confirm or something. Typically the underdog wins leaving me -£190. Crap.
I should be happy but to be honest I'm hacked off with myself a bit.
I've been careful, made the odd mistake, but have generally been pretty good as I've been new to this. I'm not a daft lad. Although that's a dumb statement as you'll see.
Did the gamebookers bonus - first of all bet the $1,200 through, only to discover I'd done it at less than 2.0, so back to the start, do not pass go! Did it again.
Discovered the >2.0 market is a damn sight worse than the less that 2 one. The horses were a no-go too. So I went for the in-play market. Even nabbed a 8/6.1 arb too.
My final bet for the $1,200 mark was for $610. So I put it on Arsenal and laid off at the same odds, busted out at Gamebookers. Dazzler was home and dry with a £61 profit on the bonus.
So today I checked my gamebookers account to check if I had that re-load offer.
$1,700 in my account ?? Checked Betfair - result was a draw - the Arsenal Lay won £400. Was Gamebookers wrong? No - I'd been an Arse and backed the draw!!!
Spurs Win I come out about even (qualifier)
Arsenal Win - I would lose £1,100
Result Draw (As it was) - I won £1,100
All I can Say is I've been an arse. I may be £700 up but very easily could have been down £450.
I'm an idiot - but I did email Gamebookers to see if they had made a mistake - so an honest one
Always always double check the bets - I thought I had
Reminds me of that Alan Hansen Football pools advert - "Okay I should be happy I've won a Million on the pools, but the sloppy defending that lead the equaliser took the edge right off it..."
Fuck me Dazzler! Thats some brilliant mistake. Don't beat yourself up about it, ok it coulda been worse but it isn't, it's an excellent result. You know your mistake and got away with it, you luck b'stard
Now consider yourself extremely lucky and move on vowing to never make the same mistake again.
