What a match!!!!
Are you ready Premier League? The Canaries have landed.
Ive lost £150 and then £80 both "mug betting" once on my football team Livepool to beat Stoke and the £80 on a "favorite!" to win at tennis both happened same night and i felt sick, all the hard work i had done up to that point was ruined. Had a few weeks off and feel alot better for it. You have to learn from your mistakes.
think i talked this one up, DOH!!!
just lost 170 as the bet at party bets didnt accept and i didnt see it! so thought i had arbed it but had actually not even placed it thats a real kick in the teeth!! oh well these things happen looking back on it just wish i had backed the horse and cancelled out but it went in play too quickly!!
oh well shit happens!
Ouch :-( Sorry to hear that.
Have a plan and stick to it
about £30...can't remember how! Was when I first started matched betting. Lost money at bwin casino and of course some months on the coral monthlies (RIP)!
£163 with Boylesports. Backed and layed two different outcomes which both lost of course.
Oops, another £19 gone. Here's a tip; don't leave an unmatched correct score bet to go in play thinking the odds will come down as that 20p you tried to save will end up costing you your whole back stake.
Yoiks... just noticed this one... didn't have a massive loss to report until just last night!!!
Accidentally placed a 215EUR / £170 3way combo on 3xFrench liege2 matches at MyBet 10 minutes before the matches started - and they all started at the same time so absolutely no chance of laying the bet off... gutted at that, could only just pray that all three games won... only one did... sods law, when you want a back bet to win it never does...
I'd thought I was placing 3 win singles and thought I'd get another screen come up where I'd have to 'ok' my bets/submit them, but it never happened, just a 'thank you your bet has been accepted' screen... gutted.
I had been doing ok, but it was obviously the night for it last night as I too bet and layed two different outcomes. After an hour's frantic spreadsheet bashing and watching the odds drift further and further apart I managed to restrict it to losing about £40, which included the bonus of £25.
Another lesson learnt.
I've done that before though backing and laying different horses, thankfully learnt my lesson and ever since I double check everything, usual 'drill' goes like this:
- find match
- place lay bet
- place back bet (ALWAYS checking the horse/selection and odds aren't changed <- another gotcha, price changed at bookie and you didn't notice!)
- take screenshot of back bet receipt and check again that the selection is correct
- go back to spreadsheet and type up the match bet in the 'event name' cell
- double check the lay liability in Bet Trader Pro is the same as in my spreadsheet
Sounds tedious but it's really not, takes perhaps 30 seconds to do and saves on mistakes... touch wood haven't had another 'back/lay same horse' problem since following this routine.
The fourth step of taking a screenshot is useful for when you find a bookie doesn't pay up (which hasn't actually happened touch wood but you never know), it's all done automatically using 'gadwin print screen' which is a really useful little screenshot tool.
Also by taking the screenshot it makes me look at the receipt itself so I know the bet has definitely gone in - other times I've lost money have been when I've not actually got the the receipt page - I've missed clicking on the 'confirm bet' page!
Also if I don't have a screenshot of the receipt, I know I fscked up somewhere (I've had it before where I've laid a horse but not backed it, thankfully never made a loss from doing that though, only a profit!).
as a result of last night i have decided to put off anymore betting for the time being, it really pissed me off and to lose that amount has knocked my confidence in the whole thing. So have withdrawn all funds and will think about it again in a couple of weeks time.
it was fun while it lasted but the returns were never that great so it never really payed off for me and when you get a loss like that it makes the whole thing seem somewhat pointless as within 2 minutes i managed to wipe out the last 2 weeks work!
