Note after entering your online banking credentials there is a further security step, you receive an automated phone call from your bank with a pin number, which you then need to enter in Moneybookers to complete the transfer.
I think bottleguy above is talking about something different - I think he's talking about the deposit/upload option at Moneybookers where you initiate a payment via bank transfer directly from the Moneybookers site itself. There are a couple of options on the Moneybookers upload page, one called 'online bank transfer' and one called 'Directebanking' (both are dodgy I think in terms of breaking your bank's T&C).
The 'online bank transfer' option requires you to enter your username and password for your online banking account (ie your Lloyds username and password!) on the Moneybookers site... which always sounded very dodgy to me seeing as Lloyds (and any sane banks) have it in their T&C that disclosure of those details to 3rd parties will invalidate any kind of claim you can make if you're defrauded as a result.
Similarly I think with the directebanking upload option at Moneybookers you have to enter your online banking username/password at a 3rd party website that Moneybookers use for direct banking transfers.
I think what you're talking about is when you set up a payment order at Lloyds online banking site and you have to complete the automated anti-fraud authentication session before you can make a payment to that payee aren't you? The one where you set up the payment details and then there's a 4 digit code displayed on screen and you get an automated phonecall where you have to enter in the 4 digit pin.. quite like that feature.
Basically the best option is like you say, just login to your online banking at your bank's website, set up a payment order on there to go to your Moneybookers account and then make any payments that way rather than using one of those direct banking options at MB. Sure it takes a bit longer, 3-5 days but it's no big hassle really given you only really need to do it once every few months (why the hell it takes that long though given that both my bank and Moneybookers are Lloyds I don't know... .. that's another thing though heh)

Yes I'm referring to the same deposit/upload option on the Moneybookers site. After entering your online banking details on the Moneybookers site, the next page on Moneybookers wants a PIN which is provided by an automated service phoning you.

Hi
Any updates to these posts welcome.
Can anyone offer advice on suitable bank accounts for matched betting ( November 2011).
I (think) I need:
No charges if in credit – ie no monthly fee
No requirement for regular deposits (want to keep separate from pay etc) just transfer from my usual bank now and again – then go in and out of Moneybookers/Skrill
Visa debit card (for bookies where Skrill isn’t accepted for bonuses eg BetFrd)
On-line banking
I don’t want any interest etc, just a different account to my main bank. Everything I try seems to require regular payments (ie pay in salary) – which is then the same as my main bank account.
Thanks

I personally like the halifax current account. No monthly fee, Visa Debit card, Online Banking and £5 bonus every month £1000 is paid into the account (easy with withdrawals).

Nationwide Flexaccount offers all of the above. I signed up to it because at the time it had the lowest forex fees (i.e. depositing into Euro bookies was cheaper using this account than virtually anything else). They hiked the fees up recently but I think they're still comparitively low/average.
Online banking is great - only problem I've ever had with them was actually setting up my account, which for some reason took a very long time but got there eventually. Moneybookers compatible (Natwest for example isn't necessarily). Hope that helps

How is Natwest not Moneybookers Compatible? Ive used Natwest with Moneybookers for a long time, depsoiting via Debit card and withdrawing via bank transfer.

I use a Halifax easycash account for my AP activities. I opened it up online sometime ago to separate funds from my current account elsewhere.
It's a basic account and came with an electron card, something I've not had a problem with and has been handy for ryanair flights. Might be a regular visa debit card with new applications though. No interest paid and no overdraft either but they've had no problem with it being 99%+ AP transactions.
Officially you do not have access to counter service in branch - you use the instant deposit machine (something I like as there's hardly ever a queue to use this) - but if these are down then counter staff usually will let you deposit with them. You get online banking too, not sure about phone banking.
