I use Bethere and have found them very good so far. I know Fast are supposed to be very good as well.

Hehe yes hopefully fast will be fast enough... they used to be top on the ISP ratings site here:

DSL ZoneUK - ISP ratings and reviews

and looks like they still are top... good site that anyway for researching new ISP. I used to be with UKFSN who are 3rd on that list, but I moved away from them because they started introducing a new charging scheme which I wasn't happy with (well I say 'they', it's their parent group entanet that made the changes).

sky unbundled is okay if you can get it, im with bethere but you cant get them. I also have entanet which are reliable, but capped (at least it is a visible cap that you can monitor via their website unlike virgin etc...)

LLU = Local Loop Unbundling, Basically Sky (in this case) put their own hardware in your local BT exchange to reduce their costs and improve speeds (which benefit you!)

try the SamKnows adsl checker to see what LLU services you can get at your address:

I'm about to start matched betting and my "mentor", i.e. a chap who has been doing it for about 6 months now has recommended I get a cheap backup broadband connection for when things go pear shaped with my existing fixed connection. I'm thinking a cheap 3G mobile broadband will do the trick nicely plus it be great to access t'internet when I'm out and about. Any recommendations?
