Munk, you are right and I was maybe a little harsh with Andy who is doing a good job here but I felt really offended when putting part of the blame on portuguese without specifying exactly what those "issues" were. I am a legitimate player, signed-up at betjoint and got my account closed. What was exactly my part in this "issues"?
There are scammers or players with multiple accounts in every nationality but what Andy did is giving the idea that all portuguese players are. The result is that limited minds like bujoint actually believe that and start spreading this misconception.
Like you said, there's one part to blame and it's Betjoint, we agree on that.
That's also my last post on this thread because I don't want to continue this argument. Now I'm going to sign-up my aunt, my 2 cousins and my next door neighbor at bookmaker
I know you're probably joking but that's the sad thing about this, people like us who did nothing wrong get nothing but BS and abuse from Betjoint and it just makes you think, well I'm being penalized along with all the abusers... maybe I should have taken advantage then... great work Betjoint.

If you'd read my first post I said I've never held much belief in vast numbers of multiples anyway and the blame comes down to BJ anyway.
Anyway apart from banning the portugalese -
No idea if feasible but if offer links are to remain public - how about some form of 'pin' number to be used in conjunction with username (as username is obv easily copied).
Prob easier though to have offer links by request only though from andy/monk etc - don't know if its poss to put some form of unique identifier in the link provided to stop that going further afield ?
Blanket banning a whole nationality is probably a little heavy handed but I understand the rationale.
Lucky escape here for me - was about to pile in just before it all kicked off.
Shame I didn't procrastinate a little more about BetOT as well...
There's a thread on MSE about someone offering referrals only to find one of the people they referred tried gnoming several account with a fair bit of fallout, and that was from someone that they knew in the 'real world'. It only takes 1 rogue person to spoil things for a lot of people.
Once you've been hit by that sort of problem anyone would try to want to avoid it again, both because you don't want people to lose out and because it affects your future ability to provide offers/make money. I had 1 account closed in the past because of being linked to someone who gnomed and, whilst it cost me only a few pounds, it was a major worry at the time.
Not allowing Portuguese players to take part in promotions is what Andy's decided. His reasons for doing so are up to him, but I expect it's a case of risk management (in the same way that Russians are disallowed from many offers). It will hit many innocent people but it's his website and it's up to him to decide the rules on it.
I agree with this. That being said, if part A) in the original post can be improved, a blanket ban may not be needed.

With the Betshop promotion, details of the accounts eligible for a bonus are passed on by Andy to his contact at the bookies, rather than it being added automatically.

Interesting read, thanks Andy.
BTW if anyone want's to take offence at Portuguese being mentioned then they shouldn't moan at Andy, they should take it up with Skilos who was simultaneously posting on here pretending to be all friendly whilst simultaneously:
- spamming MSE with the Portuguese affiliate site
- spamming Rpoints with the Portuguese affiliate site
- slagging off TGT on Rpoints - accusing TGT of sharp practice saying that it was promoting sites whilst also providing guides on how to beat them. He was also saying how all TGT Betjoint members were "about to get a shock" etc etc - one day before Betjoint pulled the plug.
He also sent abusive PMs on the day we all got banned from Betjoint.
Anyone who has read anything that Skilos posts will also know that his threads are usually posted on by other people, generally with a grand total of about 3 posts to their name, always from Portugal, always agreeing with him & always, sounding uncannily like him....
So - SCLight - or anyone else who takes umbrage at Portuguese players being portrayed in a poor light. Don't complain to Andy - complain to the cretin who's giving you all a bad name.
Saying we are not allowing ANY Portuguese players to take part in future was probably a little bit rash. As has been pointed out if anyone from Portugal is an active forum member and did actually specifically PM me im sure they would be allowed to take part. Everyone who has posted something in this thread actually would all be fine if they let me know first.
Have a plan and stick to it
hmm... a very interesting read! cant believe it was only mid Feb when it kicked off! seems like forever and a day ago!
I cant be bothered to get into the country slagging but would just like to say thanks to Andy for sorting it all out.
