Have a good friend who has had BOTH of their moneybookers emptied on the same day, money was sent from USD and GBP accounts to the same moneybookers address apparently which was in €. Totalled about £2k. Happened on a saturday so assume no payout was permitted from MB as they dont do anything over the weekend. MB said the transactions were "on hold" pending a security investigation as the transfers had been done from a "blacklisted" IP address. However it turns out that the payouts were granted and now the receiving bank will not reminburse the money. Obviously MB are being very cagey about any info they give out. Strange thing being that the 2 VIP MB accounts had nothing in common, i.e. the email addresses were not the guys name, and because they are different currencies they were never used to fund any 1 book... very odd.... No bookies were hacked or had anything done to them either
This was a couple of weeks ago, yesterday i gather he was offered 50% of the funds that were lost?!
very worrying considering
Jeez, thats bad .
You mentioned he has the VIP accounts emptied and I wonder if someone could actually by-pass a one time password generated from security token? I mean as a VIP customer, he surely ordered a security token.
I've just got my token recently and I was convinced my Mb account is very safe now. But if anyone could access MB accounts with by-passing this, I will start to worry alot
moneybookers account hacked
mine got hacked a while back...
think some c*nt hacked my email account and used it to reset the moneybookers password and procede to rape me
been in conversations with MB but they say the money has left their system
some bastard in latvia iirc
and as i didnt activate a security token that i had previously requested, the problem wasnt theirs
not too sure what to do next...
probably complain to financial ombudsman who are meant to regulate them and deal with issues like this
has anyone experienced this
if so what did you doo what was the outcome
please save yourselves the problems im having by getting and activating security tokens(the random number generators)
I've merged the threads together, best to keep the information about Moneybookers fraud all in one place. See above for more information on what you can do Mike.

The moneybookers security token, is in my opinion essential - doesn't matter whether you're moving 3 figures around or 5 figures around....
get one now!
I looked into getting one of those when I lost my USB stick a while ago. That is one drawback of using keepass on a USB stick, if you have all your passwords in one database and it gets lost then you're stuffed, have to make sure you have a backup or two plus obviously a very very strong password to protect the actual db itself. Thankfully I only use the USB stick as a backup / for when I'm away and it does have a pretty strong password on it.

- high quality / secure usb stick (supposed to be super strong and impossible to break it open and physically get at the data on it without rendering it useless)
- extra software (like you mentioned, along the lines of keepass by the sounds of it)
- extra backup facilities online (not sure if you have to pay a yearly subscription though for that on top of the hefty price of ironkey itself? maybe not?)
- just looks damn cool as well!
In the end I went with one of these:
Welcome to Corsair :: Flash Survivor Product Information
which is just a usb stick but supposedly stronger casing (saw some reviews and it did quite well in those on durability score). On top of that I started using Truecrypt to encrypt a single 4Gb 'container' file on the USB which you then mount as a drive and transfer files to/from it. I just keep all my sensitive files in that container file and do a backup to it once a month.
Generally I don't do anything that fancy with my keepass database, it just sits in My Documents and opens with Windows so it's 'always there'.
Speaking of Keepass - since I wrote that 'article' above, I've actually stopped changing passwords once every 3 months, it was getting ridiculous and I had at least 60 passwords each month to change. So now I change my passwords at varying times depending on the 'strength' of the username/password combo - maybe once a year if they allow very long usernames/passwords or as little as 3 months for very short passwords (banking / financial stuff I still do once a month though).
How much is it? where can I get one from?

Well worth it without a doubt when you consider the amount of money you can have flying around the internet. Doesn;t matter whether you are a small or big player the fact is we all at times end up with a balance in moneybookers that I would prefer to see in a case handcuffed to my wrist
