    Angry Moneybookers Fraud thread

Excuse any rant, but just checked my MB a/c and whereas I had a few hundred pund in there yesterday, balance is now nil!! Looked at the tarnsaction history list and an amount for almost the whole balance was withdrawn at 02:30 this morning to a gmail account to a name that is incomprehensible!! I have spoken to MB who have frozen my account (horses and doors come to mind!) and passed the matter over to their security dept. I will now have to open a new a/c (if I risk it!) and go through the whole verification business again with them. They will try and trace the monies, but i am worried as to where I stand with regard to claim for getting balance back.

    Anyone heard/experienced anything similar?

Feel very exposed and nervous about using MB in the future, especially as I was in the process of setting up a VIP account, with 4 figure sums moving through on a regular basis.

Take care and thanks for listening....!!

Dunno but i do like a pop quiz. Wonder if A/C means Air Conditioning, rather ACCOUNT? Chris try opening a window if you are a bit red faced.

Are you sure you don't have your computer infected with spyware and malware?

Nope, run Ad-ware regulary and scan daily.

Really intrigued (as well as annoyed!) as to how they did it.

Will obviously keep people updated as and when I find things.

I have heard a few occasions where an MB account has been hacked, i believe both times the money was recovered.

I would do a antivirus, malware and spyware scan. Plus if you used the same password for MB as anything else i would change those passwords, ASAP.

    Chris,

Please don't give anything away but is your password linked to something you regularly post about. For example i see you are from Norwich, if i had your email address and i knew you say supported norwich, and your password was of a football nature. it would be relatively easy to hack your account.
