Useful Program for Screen Splitting
Recently bought a new monitor (1920 x 1200 just to brag) and wanted to try out having a split screen (i.e. the bookie on one side exchange on the other side and so on). The obvious way is to drag and resize one window till it fills the left half and do the same with another till it fills the right half. I wanted an easier way than this. I'd seen a link to a firefox extension posted on MSE which does this but I had heard it was buggy, and it only works for firefox windows (what if I want to have my spreadsheet up on one bit of the screen). After searching on google I found something called WinSplit Revolution and I'm addicted to it now . Note that unlike alot of other programs that promise to do this, it's free of charge .
Once you have it running all you have to do is be on the window you want to move and then press Ctrl + Alt + Number to determine where you want it on the screen (make sure num lock is on though). It's hardly impressive sounding but it does streamline things alot and make your matched betting experience a bit easier especially if you want more than 2 windows up.
For example: QRS complex wants to place a qualifer on stan james. Since horses are always a good plan for a quick matched bet he loads up oddschecker in one window, stan james in a new window, and betdaq in a third firefox window. He now has three windows which he would like to all be on the screen at once. So he presses Ctrl + Alt + 2 whilst active on the oddschecker window. This moves it to the bottom half of the screen. Then he presses Ctrl + Alt + 7 whilst active on the stan james window moving it to the top left of the screen. Then he presses Ctrl + Alt + 9 whilst active on the betdaq window moving it to the top left of the screen. He will end up with something that looks like this (see attachment which has been downsized by 50% so try and imagine it on a huge monitor):
Apologies if this has been posted before but I did a search for the program name on here and MSE and couldn't find any mentions of it.
Good heads up.
I usually do:
Hit WindowsKey+E (to minimize all windows).
Click on the two windows I want side by side to 'restore' them.
Right click on the taskbar, click 'Tile windows vertically'.
That tiles the two windows side by side so each takes up half of the screen. Very useful indeed.
My monitor is fairly decent size, 23" but still though sometimes another monitor would be useful. Then again though to be honest I should really upgrade my PC first, been meaning to do that for ages now. I've also started using a netbook for a lot of stuff (watching a live stream or keeping an eye on a chart or something), very useful.
If you have Windows 7 then 'win key+left arrow' and 'win key+right arrow' will align the current window to the left or right side of the screen. Much quicker than doing it by hand and perfect having the bookie on one side and exchange on the other but the programme you posted looks a lot better.
I use Split Browser. I mostly have the bookies on the right side of the browser with BetTrader on the left. The extension is a bit hard on CPU and somewhat buggy but gets the job done.
