calc's as 0.98% arb but i dont understand what happens if its 1-0 or 2-1 etc, do both bets just get refunded ?
As a general rule yes stakes just get refunded.
There are exceptions though some sites will charge you 10% for that, Interwetten is one that springs to mind. Also make very sure it is in fact the Asian Handicap you have not a European Handicap, the EH would count it as a loss.
But as a general rule, yes if the bet pushes you just get your stake back.
A tip for working out or seeing "what if" for Asian Handicaps is to go to betfair, find the Asian Handicap market there, put in a stake amount but dont submit it at all just look at the slip on the right. It explains for you "If Arsenal win by 2 goals then X" etc etc for all results. You dont need to place the bet, it just shows you what if. You can use that to calculate what will happen for the bet you are actually placing.
