I bet a baseball team on 25th to win at a bookie and the same to lose at BF.
BF said I lost so I assumed my team won.
I go to the bookie and they say due to time differences I bet on the match on 24th and that is the scores I should look up? WTF.
I bet on the 24th on the match on the 25th.
Surely I should look the results up for the 25th game which I bet on?
Or have I got it wrong?
Either way I cannot have lost the team to win bet and the team to lose bet surely???
Baseball teams sometimes have an incredibly quick turnaround, often playing twice in less than 24hrs. It is possible you have bet on two different matches. What were the matches exactly?
Have a plan and stick to it
Kansas city to win on 25th against cleveland?
And same on BF to lose...
Fixtures 25 August CLE @ KC / Match Odds (Listed) / Kansas City (Z Greinke) Which has lost because as far as I can see KC won?
I am getting really confused now!
Should I look at the results for 24th??? Surely I should look at results for 25th?
MLB Scores - CBSSports.com
Even on the results page they have the results from the previous day, i.e. 24th as the 25th...
So despite betting on a match on 25th they believe it to be 24th match!
Looks like I am stuffed....
You should look at the listed pitchers for the two games.
If they played a double header there is NO WAY the same pitcher would have pitched both games, so if both your bets have the same pitchers listed you should have won and if your games have different listed pitchers you have backed and layed different games
OK the match on bf for 25th has Greinke listed and the outcome was 6.2 win for KC.
Cannot see any pitcher on the betslip for IW just that the game was 25th.
I think IW must put 25th when they mean 24th which is ridiculous.
So at least I learnt this now before I get on to much larger bets?!
But how can you have a betslip reading match is on 25th and then you check the scores on 24th?!
As soon as I read your post, I thought that what's probably happened (if indeed the book is correct) is that the game you backed at the book may have started at 19:10 Eastern US time on the 24th, 00:10 on the 25th UK time.
Logically, you'd therefore look on the 25th @ Betfair with it being a UK site to do your lay and you found the same teams and did your lay. Unfortuately Betfair lists the games directly relating to the dates they start in America. If you had looked on the 24th @ Betfair (even though the game started on the 25th UK time), you would have been laying the correct game. Because they play one another multiple times on the trot, you would also find the game listed on the 25th @ Betfair but this would have been a completely different game with different pitchers listed.
So, as has been said, check the pitchers at the book because you may find they're Sowers and Soria?
Edit: if you're betting at IW then they don't list any pitchers which means your bet stands regardless of pitchers. Betfair only stands if the listed pitchers start and so you're open to losing money, it's not a matched bet.
*** so it looks like it is along the lines of what I've said after looking at IW's site. If you look now at their MLB section, all but two of tonight's games (so games which start on the 26th US time) are listed as starting on the 27th because IW is using European time. If you were to bet on something listed on the 27th @ IW and go to the 27th on BF (should there be any games then), you'd definitely be backing and laying completely different games. Because IW doesn't list pitchers, you were unable to spot you were backing and laying different games which is unfortunate.
Just looked at interwetten and they don't list pitchers !!
Looking at the resuts on interwettens site the games had slightly different start times, The game on the 25th starting at 2.05 and the game on the 26th starting at 2.0.
The game on the 26th Kansas won so this is the game you laid according to betfair, so if you think you backed the same game, go to your betslip at interwetten it should show the game time as 2.0
If you bet on the game starting at 2.05 you've backed the first game which Cleveland won
