Handicap/Spreads hints/tips
not sure if this has already been pointed out or not 9if it has delete it or move it) and im sure the majority here will already know anyway, but it might be useful for newbies to betting
with so many bookmakers offering bets for all kinds of markets there is alot of markets that mean the exact same thing and prices can differ (sometimes quite significant)
a few examples.....
match win and -0.5 AH is the exact same bet yet odds can differ for example toinght bet365 have preston as 1.90 in the match odds but if you go to the "additional AH" section -0.5 they are 2.00, this is the exact same bet but 10 ticks better off
a few examples of the goaline bets...
colchester/charlton is 1.95 in the over 2.5 section, but if you go to "goaline" it is 2.00 for over 2.5 goals which is 5 ticks better off, not a huge difference but all the better in your pocket than theres.
one of the biggest price differences is in their winning margins markets where price differences are normally pretty big
win by 2 or more goals is the exact same as -1.5 goals AH yet prices often differ on the 2 markets
preston to win by 2 or more goals is 3.60 but if you go to the AH section -1.5 goals they are 3.70 10 ticks better odds for the exact same bet
these are just a few examples, i could give you a price difference for every single match played tonight but all i wanted to do was point out that when there is more than one market for the same bet it always pays to check them all to make sure you get best odds available
this will be common knowledge to most but im sure there is a few who just go and face value and will just back preston at 1.90 when they could have had 2.00 from the same bookmaker
below is a list of bets that mean the exact same thing.......
match win is the same as -0.5 goals AH
draw no bet is the same as 0 AH (rotherham are 1.53 DNB but 1.60 0 AH)
win by 2 goals or more is the same as -1.5 goals AH
win by 1 goal is the same as -1 draw (normal handicap)
alot of bookmakers do number of goals bets where you can bet on 0-1 goal, 2-3 goals or 4+ goals
0-1 is the same as under 1.5 (odds are normally different)
4+ is the same as over 3.5 goals (again odds normally very different)
a couple of examples are norwich/orient tonight bet365 have over 3.5 goals @ 3.05 but if you go to number of goals section 4 or more goals is 3.20 this is a 15 tick difference for the exact same bet
inter under 1.5 goals is 3.50 but if you go to 0-1 goal in the number of goals section it is only 3.40
think it would also be good for others to post hints/tips that newbies (or even experienced) betters may not know about
hope this helps a few of you out
sometimes odds are the same but alot of the time there is a difference between 5-10 ticks and sometimes ive seen 30-40 ticks diference for the exact same bet so i think it pays to always look if there is more than one market for the same bet and get the best possible odds

That is very useful information which I wish I had when I first started out.
Some more examples from the champions league tonight:
Rubin Kazan - Inter Milan
Rubin Kazan - European Handicap +1 - 2.2 - Bwin
Rubin Kazan - Double Chance - 1X - 2.22 - Betsafe
Rubin Kazan - Asian Handicap +0.5 - 2.33 - SBObet
All exactly the same bet

-1 hcp draw ?
eg manure scrape a win by one goal due to time shifts in salford
-1 on hcp is a loser whereas -1 hcp x is the winning bet.

Didn't notice that when I first read!
European handicap -1 would be the same as Asian handicap -1.5

yes forgot to put in "draw" after -1
win by 1 goal is the same as -1 draw on a normal handicap

I commonly dutch Team A and Team B +0.5 AH - saves on commission and you can generaly get more profit.
Another similar example is 0 - 0 and no first goalscorer. With some books it seems like more people will put money on 0 - 0 if they think it will be 0 - 0, so the price tends to end up a bit lower.
However, own-goals do not count for first goalscorer, so you have to be careful how you match.
For instance, take the recent Italy vs Georgia match. The final score was 0 - 2 to Italy, but both goals were own goals (both from Kaladze, poor bloke) so there was no first goalscorer.
Code:
Back Lay
No first goalscorer Win Lose
0 - 0 Lose Win
So, from this you can see that, if you had backed and laid in the same market, you would have won one bet and lost the other, as expected.
If, however, you had backed No First Goalscorer and laid 0 - 0, you would have won both bets.
If, you had backed 0 - 0 and laid No First Goalscorer, you would have lost both bets.
Long story short, if you're backing 0 - 0, check out the odds for No First Goalscorer. You might get better odds, it almost certainly won't cost you anything, and once in a blue moon you'll get a big payout when both bets win.

another good tip is to never back 0-0
back no goalscorer that way you still get paid out if there is an own goal
it can be 2-2 and you still win if all 4 goals were own goals

Hi, some good tips, cheers.
I have been reserching dutching, asians and have looked at a few sites to use these methods with.
On titanbet I noticed instead of no goalscorer..... they have a 1st team to score section with no first goal...and last team to score, again with - no goal. Am I right in thinking these are the same as no goalscorer?

If you bet "no goal" on either 1st/last team to score, I think you'll only be able to win the bet if the game ends 0-0.
"No goalscorer" bets can usually win even if there is a goal because own goals on the market normally don't count.
When comparing correct score of 0-0, 1st/last team to score (no goal) and no goalscorer, if the odds are the same then bet the no goalscorer bet to stand the added chance of the only goal/s being own goals and you may well see you have a winning bet.
Also, if you back no goalscorer on the 1st goalscorer market for example, you can then lay the bet using correct score 0-0 and stand the chance of a double payout should the only goal/s be own goals.
As always, check rules but that's usually the case afaik.
