Basically Im after some info please?
Say I back a team at laddies at 1.5 and betfair has them layable at 1.75. Now how do I queue ( I never do this so please forgive the daft question )? Just put in my required odds and leave it? It will come back as unmatched. Do I just keep refreshing the page? How long can I leave it there? Will it keep queueing if I log out?
Sorry to sound so lame!
If betfair current lay odds are 1.75 but you want to lay say £50 at 1.5 you put it in as that and then your money is placed on 1.5 (queueing until it gets to that odds to be taken)
There is usually a keep in play box which you can tick, so if the race/match started before your lay got taken you could keep it there and hope someone took it inplay.....
You can also tick sp...which if the race/match goes in play it will change your lay to whatever the start price lay was to ensure your matched (I think, ive never used this though)
PS. Beware of inplay its the devil
do you have to stay logged in?
you can que in play until it is matched up until the market is suspended
once it has been suspended for whatever reason you then have to do your bet again, which is annoying
i did this the other day as soon as the game started i did my bet then went away, then later on that night i realised that my bet hadnt been matched when it should have been
it was because the market was suspended in-play and as my bet was not matched before that it went away and i had to re-enter my bet again

If you're like me, I keep refreshing the page every few seconds, especially if the odds start drifting... You can see your unmatched bet in the mybet section in the right hand panel.
I have ended up with many a horse unmatched in this way though and ended up losing £££ trying to gain pence.
No. Just remember that something need to happen with the event if its not inplay for the odds to drift. Say for example some teams lineup is released and their top players are not starting or something similar.

You can do similar with the Draw odds on Soccer, its not garunteed to work but really the Draw odds wont move much even with a gamble on one team it will push the other team out more than the Draw. Again you can straddle either side of the spread quite effectively. If both are not matched you can get out of the first one (usually) taking the money available which came in behind you. Its a bit of a faff for not a lot of return at the stakes I used though so I dropped the idea but I know some people with big bankrolls do it.
Betfair takes money from the impatient and gives it to the patient.
RE Staying logged in, no you dont, but as Todd says if the market is suspended it resets which can be annoying. Sometimes it gets suspended for no good reason by accident, like it looks like it might be a Red Card, or the ball goes in the Net but goal is disallowed, etc etc, so you need to keep an eye on it when "in play". Queing before an event though it is not often suspended then.

Just thought I would chuck this piece of sage advice in...
Be VERY careful about queueing horse markets. It's a very volatile market. I would never leave a horse lay "unattended" for any amount of time. Just my personal opinion.

Even though you've got the answer now, here's a video of me wanting to queue a £10 lay on Stoke at 2, choosing to keep the selection (so not to cancel the bet when it goes in-play) and finally cancelling my queue... it's more for anyone who actually doesn't know any of these processes than in answer to the OP but seemed a nice time to try out my new program
Nice video. I already knew how to lay a bet and queue I just wanted to watch the video.
